Happy Easter everyone,
I'm looking for a new credit card because I'm planning a trip to Asia for 4 months in the fall. I'm going to start booking everything and I need a card for all those purchases.
Current Stats: 735 Fico; 7 Months AAoA (1 yr AU & 2 Months Discover Card); about 10% util across both cards. 18 yrs old and about 12-15k income. 2HP's on TU, 0 on EQ and for some reason, I dont have an EX file.
I've been itching for an Amex for as long as I've been breathing. Currently looking at the everyday card but I know it might have acceptance issues in Asia.
So, a more feasible option, a VISA or MC. Primarly looking at the BankAmericard Travel Rewards, but I'm also interested in the Arrival+. I know chase is out of the question because I dont have 1 year AAoA yet. I'm totally open to suggestions! I know it will be tough with my AAoA, so please, if anyone can guide me in the right direction
Check Chase, Citi, and Cap1 prequal tools. Chase may not be out of the question(although they might start you with a low limit).
Report back.
OP stated that he was 18, so there are no prequels available at all until he turns 21...

I'm under 21. I dont get prequals, unfortunately.
in that case all i can tell you from personal experience is that capital one is very good for building and growing credit. at 18 they gave me a card and about 1-2 years later it had grown to 9K limit. with your income i would go for the venture one i think you might have a decent chance of being approved . but its up to you if you want to take a hit there's always a chance for being denied , but that's the case with all creditors, i thin you'll find capital one is more generous than most
