I'm pre-approved for just about every Amex card (Also USB Flexperks travel and Cash+ and Discover It). I currently have the Gold and BBP, Cap One QS1 and Venture One. Should I apply for a card and if so which one(s)?
A few data points on me:
-I'm at 3/24 right now and will drop to 2/24 in June
-I have zero Chase cards and have very recently been declined for a Freedom
-Scores in 680 range
-Small file and AAoA is 1.2 yrs
-Venture One CL of $7k is my biggest by far
-3 baddies on my CR
-Usage usually AZEO
-I like travel rewards best (air miles and card points) but cash back works too.
-Prefer simplicity and willing to give up a bit to get it, but can handle complexity as well if necessary.
-Looking for ways to get bonus rewards/cash back for cell phone ($300/mo), cable/internet ($170/mo), gas ($150/mo) and entertainment ($300/mo). Dining, groceries and air travel already covered by Gold, hotels by 10x on hotels.com with Venture One.
Would love Chase cards but two declines for CSP in past year and Freedom within the month has gotten me discouraged. Also declined for Amex Business Delta Skymiles Gold (would love the sub but was hoping for biz card instead of personal card to not hurt 5/24).
Should I look to any of my pre-approved cards at this point? If so, which ones? Thanks for help and suggestions!
With the bills that you are displaying there (almost the same as what I have), my recommendation would be the Everyday / Everyday preferred card. That was the card I chose for those basic charges you just listed. Also I use it for my normal every day purchases to maximize the extended spend thoroughout the month. However, with that being said. This is just my personal preference on the AMEX card I would choose.
Are you mainly interested with just AMEX? You check check if you pre-qualify for a US Bank Cash + that card allows you to pick the category you'd like to earn the most cash back. I think bills are an option. But if you are really sticking to AMEX and would prefer a cash back card, then a general spending card like the Cash Magnet would earn you 1.5% on anything you spend on. Just my opinion, but again, there are other options out there that may fit your requirement. The Cash + from US Bank immediately comes to mind.

But the Everyday doesn't offer anything special on those categories, and EDP only has gas. OP has the BBP already giving 2MR per $, and the Everyday will be worse than that.
I might go for the cash plus to cover cell and internet, but depends how important MRs are.

The only list I found for categories was on Valuepenguin and they listed cell phone but not cable/internet. Is that actually part of it? Is there a definitive list somewhere?

I like the Citi Premier card a lot for travel, but I don't know if it's hard or easy to get.
