Pre-Approved offer for a card that doesn't exist?

I rec'd a pre-approval from Capital One for a Quicksilver Visa with no annual fee. I decided to look into it just for fun and to see consumer reviews, but I can't seem to find this specific card. I can find the MC with a $39 annual fee (which is more of what I would expect to get pre-approval offers on) and the Signature Visa which is listed as requiring excellent credit. (which I most certainly do not have)

The offer has many similarities to others I've seen: no annual fee, 0% APR until October 2016 (22.99% after that), unlimited 1.5% cash back. This is a much better card than my Platinum and I doubt I would be able to get it, but I am curious why it isn't listed anywhere on their site? If I use their card finder, it only lists the Platinum one I already have an dthe QS MC with AF.

(sorry, I am new to this, so if it is something obvious......)

Only rely on the terms of the card (pre-approval) they sent you and not what's on the website . Review the T/C if approved it's exactly what you'll getSmiley Wink

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

OK, I was under the impression that there were a specfic set of cards and the rates and limits varied based on the applicant. Does this mean I can assume banks can "customize" cards as they see fit for specific people or groups of people?

The Quicksilver is the better, no-AF version of the Quicksilver One:

Starting Scores (12/2012):EX 506; EQ 511; TU 518 | Current Scores (01/2016):EX 662; EQ 656; TU 653

Re: Pre-Approved offer for a card that doesn't exist?

Yep. If they are offering you a CC without an annual fee, then its a CC without an annual fee. The difference between what you find on the website and what you are offered is that what you see on the site, is the terms they give to those that want to do business with the bank... they have the advantage because they have the product you want. Now if you get an offer, they want your business and you have the advantage (Better rates/less fees) since they are trying to get you to do business with them. Get it?

Re: Pre-Approved offer for a card that doesn't exist?

Hm, from what I've read, Cap1 Pre-Approvals are usually pretty solid and this is a much better card than the ones I already have. I am surprised as I have a fairly high utilization, lower score and have only had my current CC's for 1.5-2 years, so I assumed this was fishing. The fact that it also lists a specific APR makes me wonder if I should go for it after all.

I would look at consolidating the cards you currently have with capital one.

you can do that right online and it will show you which can combine to which.

1 has to be paid off though.

I would also just run the pre-qual on the cap1 website and see if you get any offers even better than what came in the mail... like a venture!

Well perhaps what you can do is go onto the chat with them and ask. They should be able to give you a definite answer then. You can also google "Capital One Offers" And on the first link to Capital One credit cards, on the bottom of that page, click on "See if you are approved"

I only have 2, one of which is a Cap1 Platinum and I don't believe I can transfer that to another Cap1 card. My other card has a low balance I'll be paying off soon, anyways. When I run the pre-qual, it only lists the Plat I have and the Quick MC with annual fee. That's why I was confused.
