This is a very general question, but I'm wondering what some of your scores were when you started receiving pre qualified offers for Amex, Chase, Citi and Barclays? Is there a particular range that you can give me. I'm sitting in the low 600's. Thanks!
Do these companies just ask the credit agencies who is within a certain range, do they depend on other banks to reveal yours or something else? I have no idea how to get on their radar considering my credit is 4 months old.
IDK about this !
I had been out of the credit game for years with only 1 CC showing open when I came here back in April.
Since then, I've opened 1 card I cold app'd for, also got 1 ( QS1 ) after prequalifiy for, since then.... no offers !
My credit history with EX (717) is 28 yrs old, the other 2 (TU-761, EQ-664) range from 10-15 yrs. 1 baddie on EQ, ( pd judgement that's 6 yrs old) 3 closed CC's showing all good history. 2 paid, installment loans, good history and all I ever get is offers from Cap-1 !
Seems like there is no rhyme or reason, at least for me ! No prequalify offers, no nothing !
Its ok though, I've lived with cash only, have zero debt, own my home, own several autos, retired early, healthy and just waiting to get 1 more card, the right one !
So, my mailbox isn't running over with offers..lol..glad to be in w/Cap-1 and starting out !
Working on that baddie, reading as much as I can. Learning so much here...

Some of it is from the credit cards marketing department where they buy info that they feel matches their criteria.
This is correct! I'm in the 700's and I don't get any "real" offers other than Rise, and rebuilders like credit 1 and first premier.
Reason being is that despite having a decent score, I have derogs. I can't see Chase, Citi, or any of the other majors buying files like mine to send offers to. 😒

I've never gotten one from any of those banks. My scores are 762 to 787.
And no, I'm not opted out. I have gotten prequalified offers from junky banks.

Probably early in the year I began receiving 2 letters in the mail (at the exact same time) from Chase. Both were pre-approvals. One for Chase Freedom Unlimited and the other Chase Slate. Both had an expiration date. My credit score (through my Cap1 account) was early 600s, but climbing. I only had 2 CCs, which were opened a couple years back. Before the expiration date arrived, Chase would send 2 new letters with new expiration dates. I think I got 3 or 4 sets of these letters from them. Last month, I went ahead and got both cards. No other pre-approval offers, outside of those others have already mentioned. I applied for a Citi (Costco Citi Visa) but there was no pre-approval offer.
