Pre-approval with out hard pull

Are there any cards that we can test and see if they would pre-approve the application without hardpull? I know CapOne and few other companies used to offer that feature. Any ideas?

Re: Pre-approval with out hard pull

AMEX will show if you're preapproved even if you don't have a card with them...but if you app it's a hard pull.

Chase has a preapproval. I guess Discover does too but it's not really obvious to me if you're ACTUALLY preapproved.
BOA has preapproval I think if you have an account with them already.

Of course Comenity store cards have the Shopping Cart Trick.

I've seen a handful of reports of a SCT for Old Navy which is Synchrony.

Capital One Savor: $6,000; Mission Lane: $4,500; PenFed Power Cash Rewards: $3,500; Nordstrom Visa: $3,300; Capital One: $2,550

Store/Other: Care Credit $7,500; Kohls $2,500; Home Depot: $1,500; Amazon: $1,000; Target: $1,100; LOFT: $700

Meh. People like what they like. And Disco has no shortage of fans.

E.g., I will never jump on the Chase train because I can't be bothered with such a sensitive lender.

Oh I simply meant that their pre-approval isn't real because they say that everyone is pre-approved...even when they're really not. Discover has a lot of fans indeed.

Re: Pre-approval with out hard pull

Oh my bad. I see a lot of Disco hate and it's weird! LOL!

They do need to do better with their 'preapproval'!

Re: Pre-approval with out hard pull

Disco pre-app works just fine.  I hit it several times before apping and it always came back with a specific rate and offer.  A couple of years ago there were some issues with it putting in random info and getting the same results.  The key to knowing if it's working if you start getting multiple mailers after you don't apply online.

Disco isn't the easiest to get in with but, it's a rewarding product when it comes to the perks like 0% BT offers all of the time, SP CLI's, Disco Deals, and GROWTH!!!

Re: Pre-approval with out hard pull

I meant that Amex will not hard pull you if you apply are denied. If approved then they will. That is better than any preapproval IMO.

That's kind of contradictory. If putting in random information worked to generate a preapproval - it doesn't work.

If waiting until you have received a bunch of offers in the mail first is required - it doesn't work.

I'm not saying it doesn't work for ANYONE, but there are a lot of instances of it being dicey compared to say, CapOne or AMEX.
