I was a bit bored, and since I'm newly 0/24 (as of last month) I figured I'd check out the Capital One pre-approval tool just to see what decline reason it would come back with this time, LOL.
Well, the 'lolz' were on me, since surprisingly I was pre-approved for the VentureX:
The Capital One pre-approval tool is usually pretty accurate, and with the APR being neither the highest or lowest (somewhat in the middle of the range) I'm inclined to think if I had pulled the trigger it would have been approved, although likely for the $10k minimum (which would have been fine).
As a holder of the OG Savor (no fee/4% restaurants) if I had the right lifestyle the VentureX would be a really good addition, but since these days I tend to only travel every 2-3 years the travel credit would go mostly unused meaning it would be an expensive addition to my wallet. I admit it does feel good to know that if my situation ever changes it's at least a possibility.
I don't have a signature on my profile here, but I currently have over 30 credit cards opened which is known to (sometimes) be an issue for Capital One. In the past my decline reason was always due to new accounts (they weren't wrong) and I figured they'd simply say that I now just have too many accounts, but I guess I caught them on a good day. (?)
TL;DR: If you're an avid myFICOer and have a lot of accounts, the VentureX might still be within reach if you can cool your jets for a while.
Interesting points . Thanks I have many accounts as well ,but my jets haven't cooled down yet lol
Despite receiving some great offers (mostly from Amex), like you I don't travel often enough to warrant any travel cards, from any issuer. I've been at 0/24 for a couple months now and have no interest whatsoever in anything out there.
In a community filled with its fair share of jets, I seem to have become a Piper Cub when it comes to seeking out new additions, or even CLIs
What - someone here is really Zero / 24 ???

Haha, I know, right?
I moved to a different state a little over two years ago, and I got five (!) new cards to cover stuff I needed for the new place (I needed a LOT). It was risky, but I gambled that my overall profile could handle it and luckily I was right - no AA from anybody. I got ~$1800 in cash back and bonuses but it also made me 5/24 for exactly two years. (Well, technically I was something like 7/24 at first for a few months, but you get the idea.)
It's weird now, though... I feel like I have options that might not have been availalable before - hi, Chase and CapOne! - but I also want to 'protect' that status so I'm being really picky even if I would likely be approved.
I'm tentatively planning a trip next spring that will require a flight, so I might go for the Citi AA card in a few months. I already have four Citi cards so that one will be iffy in spite of 0/24, but when the time comes we'll see what happens. All four of my current Citi cards went to manual review (I'm assuming another would as well) so that might work in my favor. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm an OG Savor cardholder myself Did they ever change your card to a World-Elite?

Did they ever change your card to a World-Elite?
Yep, they sure did!
It took a while and I can't remember if I got notified or not (it was a couple of years ago) but it was eventually updated on my statement, so I reqested a replacement card and the new card came with the 'silver balls', LOL. (It's metal, too.)
Quite the journey for a card that started off back in 2007 as a $300 Orchard Bank Platinum card, haha.

See... now I'm jealous. lol. My statement has "World-Elite," but even after several replacement card requests, I never got the silver balls.
You might want to save yourself a spot for the new and improved Capital One/Discover world that should be coming down the pike in the near future.
In my mind it was time to close ole Discover and move on but ... holding to see what might happen?
As to Orchard Bank (really like them) but could never get more than about $1800 CL. When Cap1 took it over I was dead in the water. Ended up with all the mergers closing eight Cap1 Business and Personal accounts.
