You're correct. Just input basic data for suggestions. No personal info is required.
From my experience with Discover, if you put in bogus information they'll give you an APR range, but if you put in real information, they give you an exact number if they have an offer. At least that's how it was with me. I tried two different bogus applications and was given a range, when I put in my real information I got an actual APR number and then got approved after.

Tried Home Depot. Pre Qual at 25.99% APR. that is brutal

Same here. Passed so far. They've followed up with letter. Might do it and take advantage of 0% financing for new gutters I need.
