Re: PreApproved for Every AMEX?

The website shows existing cardmembers pre-approvals based on recent soft-pull FICO score, income reported or known to AMEX, payment and spend history with the company, and your overall internal customer behavior score.

Remember that the "general" rules still apply (like 2/90) and can affect your approval outcome.

i think OP is saying they have an existing Gold card and that they are logged in when seeing the 'congrats you are pre approved' message after clicking 'apply'

@I was referring to @bizarrocreditworld's comment:

"I had the experience of being pre-approved for a Blue Card Preferred only to be declined after submitting my info before I got the Green card"

I'm just trying to get clarity for future readers of the thread; I'm not clear how it's possible to be pre-approved for a BCP (excepting a snail-mail piece) if you have no existing AmEx account to log into.

Amex's website provides pre approval tool.

Not that I'm aware of (for non-cardmembers). Earlier in the thread, I was trying to differentiate in order to clear up @bizarrocreditworld's comment. To my knowledge, they provide a pre-qualification tool for non-cardmembers, which is very different from the pre-approval tool they provide to existing cardmembers. Please correct me if I am mistaken.
