I'm just trying to get clarity for future readers of the thread; I'm not clear how it's possible to be pre-approved for a BCP (excepting a snail-mail piece) if you have no existing AmEx account to log into.

Not that I'm aware of (for non-cardmembers). Earlier in the thread, I was trying to differentiate in order to clear up @bizarrocreditworld's comment. To my knowledge, they provide a pre-qualification tool for non-cardmembers, which is very different from the pre-approval tool they provide to existing cardmembers. Please correct me if I am mistaken.
