Preapproval question

Are there cc companies like chase and cap 1 specifically that dont give you preapprovals but you still get approved? Has this ever happened to anyone with the freedom or co quicksilver visa?

Yes! Good question. I checked back in may and did not have any preapproval. I made the decision to cold app for the Capital One Venture. I was instantly approved for $15k. Now, this does depend on your credit and your own confidence before you do anything thing like that. If you don't have confidence in it or know that you won't qualify for it, save it for another time when it feels right.

That said, from looking at your scores, you might get a QS1. You might also see if you can get a Barclay's Rewards MC. They tend to like folk who are trying to build credit, but don't have the highest scores. Whilst your scores aren't the worst, they are still low a piece, I recon.

I think a slow steady hand is all that's required here. Pay your bills on time, keep your utilization down and be patient for the next 6 months. Doors will open. Credit is not a "now" kind of thing....takes cultivation. Best of luck to you!

I cold app'd for the quicksilver visa in June and was approved for a VS @5k, my fico 8's were 660ish.  My DW cold app'd for the Venture in September and was instantly approved for 5k her scores were similar to yours,.  Both were without prequals but, we did receive high APRs, so YMMV.

OP doesn't have the scores for that kind of credit. Hate to be blunt like that. Reality is, save this person the further disappointment. No further apps for 6 months. Any further apps before then will do more harm than good.

I got Chase Freedom from appying COLD. I had NO pre approved offer from them...My DW had no pre quals on CAP1 and applied for Venture COLD and was approved for 5k. So yes it is always possible.

Come garden with us and use your credit wisely. Focus on utilization and after six months you should be pleased with your results. Good luck.

Same here...I never got a PreQual on my VentureOne cards...just decided to take a chance.  App'd back to back and received an approval on both VentureOne cards...
