So I've been chomping at the bit for a Chase card, been sorta saving a 5/24 slot (I'm 4/24 now) for the Freedom card, but they already denied me this year. I know from reading all the posts they don't like short history peoples...
Things have progressed so fast I'm just pushing my luck, so was checking out on Amazon yesterday and said, what the heck I'll just app for it and see what happens, if they say NO, I'm just going to get another Amex card (personal MR card) and just wait Chase out in the garden for 2 years. I pretty much have all the cards I need with the exception of the Freedom 5% card I'd like to have..
So I got the 30 day message when I applied, no hard pulls that I can see yet. I'm thinking maybe they will offer me the store card or just dragging out a denial?
When I tried for the FU they had just immediete rejected (this was before I got a 1.5% and better card).
I need to find a spot in the garden under a tree shade tree :-)
So they declined me, they sent a letter out stating my Transunion was frozen, which it was because I read they like to pull experian/equifax, so I unlocked those. I unlocked it and called them and they ran it while I was on the phone and gave me an answer.
Reason was not enough credit history length.
I think I'm over chase until they send me a pre-approval, however long that might take. From what I read on these forums are they are picky and unstable, like a bad relationship.
My transunion vantage score is 736, only 2 inquires on that, also hit Experian which had 6.
I pretty much knew it was going to be a no.

First, Vantage scores mean squat. In the future, always know your FICO scores before applying for credit.
And also, if you believe you’re not going to be approved for a credit product, I suggest not wasting a HP.
And IMHO, Chase is not like a bad relationship. What they want is a credit profile with at least one year history, low inquiries (5/24), and not doing an application spree after being approved for Chase cards.
