I dont think one has to worry too much about cld with Discover unless you do something negative like miss payments, go late , or something like that. We rarely see that here and ive been on board for 3 years plusSmiley Happy

Interesting, as I just came across this statement in seeing if others have seen a CLD. Had my card for 2x years now, no negatives, no lates almost always PIF and have used the card reasonably and just saw them drop mine from $8k SL to $4300. Which is somewhat interesting in that my FICO is higher now than when I applied, *and* I just paid off a $43k car loan with NFCU. We are talking *zero* changes other than to the positive in any of my accounts. Interesting data point in that the drop was within 48 hours of the NFCU loan getting reported as paid off. Shouldn't be a loan mix issue as I have 2x other car loans, both older.

This is the first time I've read about a CLD. If it were me, I would call Discover pronto and ask what is going on? I know lenders can do what they want but there has to be some kind of explanation. They will probably tell you there's a letter in the mail, so definitely wait to get the letter for the reason(s). Also, please let us know the reasons so we can all have some DPs for this.

Thanks for sharing.

Re: Proof: Discover has tightened up CLI requirements.

, sorry about this. Im very suprised. I mean if anyone is prime candidate for cld it would be me. I smash almost every day for cli, have rising debt, and had my share of new accounts these past 6 months. Yet im still there . Too many new accounts sounds bogus if your last one was 8 months ago. Thanks for sharing. We will have to see if this is a new trend. Supposedly Disco was going to do this but we havent seen too many reported cases.

Would being added as AU on multiple cards also spook Discover?

@GApeachy, in my opinion, no. To me thats a legitimate thing and usually means more spend for Disco. Now if those AU were engaging in questionable activities or something considered fraud, one might have problems i surmiseSmiley Wink.

Surmise, my word of the day lol. Momma says Disco is the devil....i surmiseSmiley Happy

@AverageJoesCredit

This year, I like you, have picked up new accts. and so has DH.  I just added each other as AU's on all now...then I read this (cld and responses).  Just did our first Disco BT and now I'm like (crap!) hmmmm, too much too soon?

Nope LauraC, I think you're ok. I truly believe and hope that this is an isolated event.

Berk, your situation and mine are quite similar.  My limit like yours is a little under $50k and I received a handful of smaller $500 CLIs (or nothing) for a bit and then finally got a $5000 CLI last month.

I gave up even trying to begin to understand the algorithms behind Disco's CLIs.

Very newsworthy post above, as I have not heard about this happening yet.  Can you elaborate a bit more on your profile data?  I know you said that there were only positive changes to your accounts, so obviously no negative information was introduced, high utilization, etc.  How about some lesser talked about profile data, such as your income.  Any change there?  How about your total number of revolvers and their limits relative to Discover?  What was the account you opened most recently?  You said you "used the card reasonably" above.  Can you quantify that in terms of what your spend has been on it over the last few cycles, maybe up to 6 months?

I don't think you did anything "wrong" at all that should have resulted in AA, I'm just trying to dig a little deeper in attempt to see what perhaps the algorithm saw in this [hopefully] isolated case.

Re: Proof: Discover has tightened up CLI requirements.

So, just wanted to give some DPs. I just asked for a CLI and instantly approved for $3K ($15.7 to $18.7). Called in for a DD and it would have been a HP so of course I said no because I was happy with the $3K.

My last CLI was Dec 2018 for $2.2K.

I was declined a CLI request in Apr & Jun 2019 due to outstanding balance on card too high (~$4.8K).

I have a prom 0% APR BT balance of $4K on the card. So I only decreased the balance $800 to get the increase (hmmmm).

Congrats on your cli too!
