Re: Proof of Address - Utility Bill

So...it's fraud to have a document stating you have agreed to live in a house with someone and pay bills in said house? I could understand if you used someone's address and you didn't live there or you put down money that you don't spend but to live in a house with someone you aren't married to that you are paying money into the house and have no legal protections in the case of issues is just stupid. It may not be sufficient for a bank but the document itself isn't fraud. If you are producing it with fraudulent information or fraudulent intent, then sure but the document itself isn't. It's nothing more than a template to assist small business or personal transaction. If a lease template is fraud, then so is a resume template or a bill of sale template and every template on RocketLawyer is fraud.

I think there are valid arguments on both sides of this, and intent has a lot to do with if the term 'fraud' is appropriate.

Now that being said, are there any other suggestions for the OP to prove residence?

We can debate fraud on another thread... on this one we owe it to the OP to at least try to come up with some suggestions.   grandpa.gif

There are lots of smart folks around here... I'm sure we can come up with something.  I've already mentioned the voter-ID card... what else is there?

Also, perhaps reaching out to Chase might be appropriate in this situation - possibly someone with their EO could suggest what would be acceptable in lieu of a utility bill.  I'm sure they've dealt with legitimate cases before where proof of address was a problem.  College kids, elderly person in assisted living, etc.   Smiley Wink

That's what you suggested in this thread Lol

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

Go back and read what I wrote. I have mentioned many times about living with someone as I have been in this very situation myself. Don't make me out to be a dishonest person to avoid actually reading what I have wrote MANY times on this thread. I'm not the one twisting things here.

"There are thousands of lease templates out there. I used one before my husband became my husband for proof of address. He just signed it like a regular lease."

Lindsay I'm not saying your dishonest however you did jump on the fact that you have used this method for whatevver reasons .....So why suggest this in a thread that was about verification for a bank ....and you weren't the only one

That's all I'm saying

Be careful what advice you give others as they may take it as oh ok that's a good train of thought when in fact you used it for other reason ....not supplied to a bank which you later stated to YIM

As stated before, we lived together. We weren't married. I paid money into the house that surpassed the rent on the document. I have stated that a few times as well. Again, we were living together. I even stated that I had to supply the document for a county service. Never needed it for a bank because every bank I have ever used was fine with a bank statement or pay stub. I offered an option. If the terms on the document are legitimate, then it is a legitimate document. I have stated that as well. If people are operating with fraudulent intent, don't state that I'm giving bad information as it's not bad information if you aren't proceeding the fraudulent intent.

Re: Proof of Address - Utility Bill

OP do not fake any documents ask the lender what they'll accept and be honest with lenders at all times
