I already have Discover which will be upgrade to a normal It once I graduate (higher CL). I see Discover has a nice comparasion of all the cards I wish to look into: https://www.discover.com/credit-cards/it-card/compare/
However, I'd like some community input.
Please list PROS and CONS based on your personal experiences and/or facts you know about the cards as follows:
- Blue Cash
Everyday® Card
from American
Express®- Chase
Freedom™- Capital One®
Quicksilver®Cash

1. Future backdating, potential for high CL's (Will grow with you)
2. 5% Categories, CL's can vary wildly.
3. Pulls every bureau, Anemic signup bonus, Won't grow with you, Awful customer service.
The current QS bonus is a $100 statement credit after spending $500 in the first 90 days. I thought that was pretty good.
Not worth 3 HP's, AT ALL.
I can't speak for customer service but at 1.5% non-category spend is nice to have with the QS. It might not be a main card but it comes in handy.

Easy. There are no cons with Amex. I have each of those as I'm sure a lot of other people here do. The only thing about AMEX that I sort of dislike is that you can't redeem for cash that isn't a statement credit. Freedom is good for categories and now worthless for the checking bonus. Quicksilver allows cash redemption of rewards on any amount. However, Amex is the best all-around creditor there is.
Again it depends how important a signup bonus really is to you. For the average spender who isn't transferring points or travelling, 100 bucks for 500 spend is not that bad of a bonus. Yes, you get a huge bonus with CSP for example, but you also have to spend thousands and the bonus is really much more valuable with travel redemptions. Not everyone travels heavily, so it doesn't benefit some. Quicksilver's bonus at least is easy to get and beneficial for anyone.
It really depends on the person and what they spend on and how they use cards.

$33.33 per HP. ![]()
I see your point though. If I didn't already have CapOne. I wouldn't apply for this card, I'd rather apply for a DoubleCash.

I would tend to agree that CapOne can be a good CCC.
Given that OP is currently in the low 600's, however, any near term CapOne app would perhaps be classified as disappointing.
Well yes, the OP could consider Double Cash too, if they don't mind the 25 redemption minimum and lack of rewards posting instantly. Also the fact that it is 1+1 (let's face it, not everyone PIF even though they should).
Citi can be finnicky with CLI's too, so it's a crapshoot whether it will grow more than a Quicksilver. But, it's a pain that with Capital One you have to contact the EO to get anything accomplished.
The EO at Cap One was very good to me with increasing my Quicksilver limit before I hit the 6 month mark. But we'll see if it ten years goes by before they increase it again...hopefully not
The fact you even have to contact EO for a CLI is ridiculous.
I already have a Cap One Journey on the way..
But, I can make it work.
Does Amex offer users the option to design their own cards with a custom image? I like how Capital One let me do that for free.

NO.
