For example, I added my 17 yr old daughter as an authorized user on my Amex PRG (I also gave her a card but she's never used it). She will be at college by the time she turns 18, but she's already generating FICO scores so she could apply for her own card at 18 if she wants to.
Yep. Made a friend of mine an AU on my Plat since we travel alot together. She is in the rebuilding phase of her credit. About 6 months later she apped for one of the new Amex cards and was approved - only a $500 CL but, hey, its a start for her. This is her first Amex.
Remember there are always variables besides age of credit and FICO score that they take into account. I was recently approved for an ED by Amex with only a TU/EQ of 636, and no EX yet at all, with one card previously to my name (Cap One Quicksilver One with a $300 limit), and that card only being 5 months old. What saved me is my income (77k); they not only approved me but gave me a 5k limit.
