Question about Citi CLI denial...

Hello,

I filled out the form on the Citi website for a CLI and was denied.  The letter noted that it was due to a 'garnishment, collection, statement, or judgment' on my EQ report.  I'm positive there's nothing on there, but I do have a fraud alert due to an idenity theft issue earlier in the year...but that false collection was removed at least 6 months ago.  I asked Citi if the fraud alert would trigger that denial, and they said no.  They did say that the CLI request wasn't pulled in their department (it was a CA backdoor number I found on Google that I called).   Meanwhile I pullled EQ and there's nothing on there.  So my question is, which would be the right way to go about finding what's going on here?  Is there a better number at Citi to call (since the number I did call said it wasn't their dept).  Would I be able to call EQ to see if they can explain what's happening?

Re: Question about Citi CLI denial...

I would call up and ask to speak with a specialist and see if it can be manually reviewed. Just be prepared to talk them through your credit report if need be but seeing as you have cards with them already that may help you. The worst that can happen is they deny you but thats where you stand right now if you don't reach out to them.
