Hi all. I have a PNC points card that was a BBVA Visa and that is my only account with PNC. I recently got a SP CLI with them at the 6 month mark (my second increase) and decided to check if they had a pre qualified offer for me using the link to check for offers for current customers. After I submitted my info it did not pre qualify me for any of their cards.
My scores are currently TU: 720 EQ: 720 EX: 725 and I have 2 or less inquiries on each report and 3 new accounts within the last 2 years 1 within the last 6 months. I had a few late payments on my mortgage during Covid at the end of 2020 but that loan is paid off now and I have no debt currently. Utilization is around 3%.
I want to apply for the PNC cash back card because it is offering 8% on gas 4% on groceries and 2% on everything else for the first year and that would be a good fit for me but since I did not pre qualify I wanted to see if based on my history I should apply for it anyway? What credit report do they usually pull? What kind of POI do they require if they require it? Because they always approve my CLI requests, is that a good sign that they would approve a new account?
I appreciate any advice or information about this anyone can provide and thank you in advance.
You can give it a whirl and see what it yields. They typically pull EX. Though, keep in mind that SP CLIs you've received are not direct indicators for a potential approval on a new or separate product. Often times customers have been approved in the absence of any preapproved offers but the only way to know for sure is when you apply.
I'd say the only potential flag they may consider would be the previous late payment history.
