Couple of days ago I got cli for 2K on my propel creditcard from 18K to 20K, question is how long should I wate to try again with Citi.
They're two totally different lenders with their own UW criteria. So WF may have said yes, but BoA said no, SYNCB said yes, Citi said no. You can maybe try Discover?
As echoed above, Citi can allow (if approved) another CLI after 6 months, but there's no guarantee that it may approved. You know this because this is typically how lenders work and it's all profile driven.
Even during these economic times, I have received 2 SP CLIs. So, Citi still gives, but I'm sure they've tightened their purse strings quite a bit. I'd say try again in the next few months.
AmEx doubled my credit from $10k to $20k
TD Bank gave me nothing
AmEx gave my wife 3x
Citi DC & Discover gave her nothing
@FinStar is exactly right
You should double check to make sure that 0% APR is on purchases. When I was going over the paperwork for ours, I discovered that our 0% APR didn't apply to purchases, just balance transfers (luckily that isn't why we got the card).
That's a good point above, wouldn't want to get that wrong.
The 0% offer on Balance transfers only is when you open a new double cashback card only, account I have is existing account in which I called Citi and ask if there where any offers on my account. The CSR said this was only offer on my account 0% on purchases through June of 21.
I don't have lot of data but this is my instinct that Citi and Discover are granting to many credit limit increases at this time and US bank and Wells Fargo are easer to get credit increases on existing accounts if they been handle well.
If I was clear in my last post I ment that Citi and Discover wher granting as many increases at this time, you may have better chance with Wells Fargo and US bank. One reason I think Discover is not granting increases at this time new card holders need to wate year before they can ask for line increase. When times where good before Covid discover was giving out lot of new accounts and granting large credit lines they may be cutting there risk at this time.
Again circling back to Post 27, it's all based on individual profiles. Where you may be having little success with Discover or Citi and are having success with WF and USB, there are others experiencing the exact opposite. If you go into the approvals section of the forum you can find plenty of threads with people citing Discover and Citi CLIs received. There are also threads of course with WF/USB CLI successes. The reason people receive or don't receive CLIs from those lenders has to do with how the lender views their profile. Yes it has been discussed that newer Discover accounts aren't able to receive CLIs, but that's a different "rule" outside of the norm where older accounts have still been receiving CLIs frequently. Blanket statements can't really be made when it comes to CLIs with any specific lender (again, outside of hard rules) because different profiles yield different results.
