so I know I still have a couple months before I can do a spree (first one ever) but I got a barclaycard back in July so I figure I'll wait til February or what would you suggest. A little brief, I'm 27 years old and in the military so my salary is crap. Im trying to get my available credit up. I currently have 2 vehicle loans in only my name, and no other loan. My credit cards are military star card 3600 limit(dumb I know) citi diamond preferred 7200 limit barclaycard arrival plus world elite MC 5k limit. Iive been trying to study but I just would like advice. I'm thinking AMEX since they have the 3X CLI at day 61 oh yeah according to barclaycard score is 812 as of today and the only card I have any balance on is barclaycard that I keep it payed down to under 200 for statement, daily user
With your current setup and score I would think an Amex card would be a good selection right now,,also with the possible 61 day increase it could really get your limit up in less time..Another good reason for an Amex is the backdating they do so any future Amex's would get backdated to the year of first one...
I know some of the experts will weigh in and give you more indepth guidance later on.
Welcome to the Forum and Congrats on the cards you already have...
AMEX now to set your member since date to 2014.
Barclay won't get mad at me? I hear they do.. Should I just apply for multiple or no? Thanks!
In my opinion just one to set your member since date with AMEX. Before you ask a card that's good for one doesn't mean it's good for you. So go to the AMEX website pre qualify and see what's a good fit for you. Good Luck!

Ok if I get the AMEXnow am I still able to do the spree i had planned or should I just to not worry about it. Long as Barclaycard doesn't close my card I'll be fine.. Thanks
If it was me I would wait. Especially if your planning on getting a second AMEX until next year. The current AMEX card if approved will have a member since date of 12/2014 if you were approved in January for a second AMEX card the member since date would be 01/2014 gaining almost a year over the first card. The month for first part the year for second part you became a member.
since your in the military and will be eligible why dont you open a navy federal checking/savings account? with those scores i can see you easily getting into the cash rewards or go rewards card. They are very generous with credit limits...i was in the same situation as you being in the military with low income but a way worse score than yours and they approved me for 10k right off the rip.
just a thought

Great idea!
Just wanted to chime in and figure something out. Other than vanity, are there any other benefits to your member since date for Amex?
