Applied for the Citibank Simplicity yesterday as I need a balance transfer card, the pre-selection letter I'd received with 12.99% APR expired yesterday, and I highly doubt I'll see a rate that low again any time soon, so I wanted to grab it before it was gone. I was approved, and the inquiry showed up on my Equifax report this morning (I have the 3-bureau monitoring service here on my FICO), but it didn't affect my score. Is that normal? I was expecting to get at least a 5 point drop from the HP.
I'm mainly asking to see what other folks experienced when applying for a Citi card regarding this. However, I'm also asking because, since the limit on that card is not high enough for the amount I need to transfer and I was considering applying for another balance transfer card even before I went for it and applied for Citi, but am definitely considering applying for another card now, I'm wondering if it takes a few days (or longer) for the altered credit score to show up after the HP? If I need to wait a week or so before trying another app, I can do that, I'm just curious.
As for the second part of my post, I already have a Chase Slate and a Discover IT. The amount I need to transfer is from the IT, so my options for cards to transfer that balance *to* are limited. From what I've been able to learn, my options are AMEX (they keep sending me charge card offers, but no dice on credit cards), or Capital One. I'd like to hear from some of the experienced folks here if there are other options for cards with 0% on BT right after account opening.
I haven't set up a sig yet, so my scores are EX: 709 TU: 722 EQ: 711 (unchanged even after the Citibank pull showed up on my report this morning).
Current cards are Discover IT, Chase Slate, Capital One (was a Platinum for years, just changed it to QS), and now the Citi Simplicity.
I'm somewhat wary of applying for another card so soon after the Citi app *but*, I do know that I could use a higher total credit limit, so one or two more applications shouldn't hurt things too badly. Thoughts?
When an inquiry hits your report, your score going down is dependant on a variety of factors along with also how thick your file is. The one option you should consider if it is a high limit card you are seeking is the Venture One. It has a 0% offer for the 1st year..

I don't really travel, but I'll definitely consider applying for that card if they can have higher limits and no transfer fee. Thanks!
