RECON for cli upon receiving card

Is it a smart move or dumb move to call recon for a CLI when you get a new card?  Would they do a hard pull or just review the record they have?  I've read that people have done this  but I don't know there situations.

It really depends on the creditor.  Some, like Chase, will do a HP the majority of the time.  Then some like Synchrony will do a SP.  US Bank will also use the credit pull done for the original application at time of card activation.  These have been my experiences.

It's going to be a HP unless you wait 6 months. SP after 6 months is also not guaranteed. I was approved for $1,200 got it pushed to $18,000. Depends on which bank you are dealing with.
