Greetings friends!
I am trying for CLIs on my Comenity cards for the first time and am wondering if the message I'm getting from Robo Lady is indicative of a HP or a SP.
The message I get is "In order to see if you qualify for a CLI, we will need to review your credit report.... Do you wish to continue?"
Has anyone said "Yes" and if so, did this result in a HP or SP for you?
I haven't been able to find anything online other than "don't apply for it unless you don't mind a HP".
Anyone? I have a rare opportunity to make the calls, so I would love to hear back from anyone with experience where it comes to this robo message!
Thanks kindly for reading. ![]()

I have yet to receive that message, but it does sound as if you are giving them permission to do a HP. I would proceed with caution.
Thanks for responding, KayKay...
I think so too 😞... Your advice to be cautious is wise, so I'm holding off until I can confirm one way or another.
Anyone out there get this message and still go forward with their request?

Are you trying to request a specific amount? That would be a HP. The SP increases come from not requesting a specific amount. Most of the time the increase will be a few hundred.

OP,
Yes, it will be a HP. ![]()
We need more people to look into this further and chime in. I wrote about this a week or so ago, in regards to my Barney's acct. All my other Comenity accounts got their monthly increases, and while I know Barney's is 4 Months + 1 day, I was over that time period, but I still got this same exact message you got? I tested this on some other accounts, that belong to my mother, and she too has some of these messages, but only on certain accounts. This message is being mentioned long before you say "no" to a specific increase amount, so that theory is out the window in regards to that being the reason.
What I'm curious about, is if this is just a scare tactic to stop people from trying for monthly increases. I mean, when it says "we will need to review your credit, blah blah blah, they technically are doing that with the soft pull info they have, right? The message doesn't say we will need to pull your credit, just review it. Has anyone actually proceeded after receiving this message, and in fact got a hard pull?
Please update the boards, as I think there are a lot of curious people out there.
To update my prior comment. I called a few more of my and my mother's Comenity accounts. They too have changed their recordings, even from the first moment when you say "credit line increase". They are all giving the message, that "they will need to review your credit", this is done before you have an opportunity to say "no" to a specific line increase amount. I suspect, as I mentioned prior, they updated their recordings to "scare" people away from asking for cli's too much. I highly doubt they are gonna start pulling credit reports on everyone for cli requests.
Has anyone else confirmed or denied this? I'm curious, as with their dinky cli amounts, a hard pull definitely isn't worth it. The other thing, if you think about it, that woudl make no sense is that many of their cards would give multiple increases at a time. Are you gonna tell me they will hard pull you multiple times for each cli? I doubt it.
Look forward to hearing what people have to say, and folks, please try calling your Comenity accounts to see too if you get these new messages. You can back out and not proceed, so no harm no foul.
Thanks!
In summer and fall 2016, a number of myfico members reported random HP's when requesting CLI's with Comenity. This is not new, since people have been mentioning it for months. It seems to happen very randomly. Perhaps it is part of a policy change; it is difficult to say. It does seem that more people have reported having an unexpected HP when requesting CLI's with Comenity.
There really is no way to tell in advance whether your request will result in a HP or not. By requesting the CLI, you are giving permission for them to pull your credit. So you will need to decide if it is worth the HP, and be glad in the end if you don't receive one. I know that Comenity can be frustrating. Good luck.
