Re: Barclaycard Rewards card

Barclays will not approve 2 cards within 6 months of each other. Very strict in this regard, seen many instances of this on myFICO. Figure out the one you want, the rewards one sounds better for you in the long run.

Re: Barclaycard Rewards card

I may wait a few months to build up credit payment history. I've read online that Barclay's likes to see more credit history. I have read about Barclay's Apple card and I agree it's specialized. Thanks again everyone. This is such valuable feedback!

Baddies you say?   Barclays approved my Apple Rwds 11 months post discharge with a 3k SL.  Since then Ive used the card pretty much daily like a debit card and received a CLI to 4k , then to 7k and earlier today to 9k.  I will be PC'ing the card to their Rewards Visa in a week or so.  Im just waiting to get to 2500 pts to receive another gift card.  Im around 1400 now so I dont want to give that back when I PC.  I've been good to them and they returned the luv !

I think your odds are good. Also, try aplle visa card on the same day. It usually yields better SL for the credit report and you can do 2 for 1 as Barclays will combine both HP in to 1 HP if applied the same day. I got approved for this card after a recon with $1K SL and same evening got instant approval for Apple Rewards for $2K. You can keep both for about 6 months, get auto cli on both, then combine the cards  to 1 card with a higher CL. Barclays will let you do it as long as one card has 0 balance.

I disagree.

1. The Apple card is specialized card, not that useful for most people.

2. i don't think Barclays will grant 2 credit cards so close together.

As i have mentioned above, i got 2 cards from them on the same day, and seen so many others here do the same. As for the Apple card, OP seems to be in the rebuilding stage and with the baddies and the limited accounts he has on file, this may be a good way to add a decent account from a lender that has no AF card, good customer service, and a possibility of auto cli 6 months down the road. Way better than Credit One and such lenders. And 2 cards for one pull is always a no brainer.

Advantage of 2 cards from them, use both for 6 full statements, and luckily get an auto cli after the 6th statement, Pay one off, close it and combine the credit lines in to the card you want to keep for one bigger limit card.

...I guess, as with all cases, YMMV with the history of the credit file. But it looks like you apped on the same day, which is a little different than apping a couple weeks/months apart from each other when Barclays can already see the other acct reporting

I do have to agree SouthJamaica, I have read where Barclays will hold an app for a week after approval of the first card. Then they deny the second card.

I tried 2 Barclay cards once. After 10 days they pulled another credit bureau (Equifax), saw my higher FICO score, and denied me anyways.

I got a second Barclay card 4.5 months after my first one. But both cards had very low starting limits, and were hard to increase. I think Barclay likes to give percentage increases, and if you start with a really low limit, it can take a long time to increase because 40% of very little, is an even littler increase...

But my 3rd Barclay card started at $10K.

Re: Barclaycard Rewards card

Generally speaking it is very difficult to get 2 Barclay's cards in a short period of time. Yes, a few have slipped through and been approved but most of the time they insist on history with the first account before extending another.
