Ready for an app spree

My Fico 8 scores are around 680, I'm 2.5 years post BK7, Utilization 6%, no new accounts opened in the last 12 months, 2 inquiries in the past 12 months: 1 on Exp and 1 on TU

My credit has a few cards open for over 2 years and some about a year and a half old.
I was prequalified for Credit One AMEX for $39 AF, not thrilled.

I'm looking at:

BECU Cash Rewards 1.5% (TU)
Sound Credit Union Points Rewards (EX)

Paypal MC 2% - Sync

Thinking about:

Scheels Secured VISA Fnbo (EX) $550 min deposit

BOA Secured (EX) $300 Min

Citi Secured (Don't know) $200

Sam's Club Sync (don't know)

Sephora VISA Comenity (don't know)

I think the secured cards will get me

established with those banks and will unsecure one day. I have the money in savings so I won't miss it.

I burned Sync and they wouldn't pull my credit at first and auto decline but now I see they're trying to pull (credit frozen) when I put in an app. I may be back

in their good graces.

Are there any data points to know if I might qualify for a Visa/MasterCard with Sync after burning them in BK?

I just have a fever for wanting a few new cards.

Look for Cap1 and Discover pre quals

Re: Ready for an app spree

I'd say go for an unsecured card. You have several of those already and when you have a couple unsecured accounts established for a bit, my suggestion would be to close those unsecureds.
Good luck!

Re: Ready for an app spree

I burned Discover in my BK. Their prequals use to say that I was denied based on a previous account (not verbatim but basically what it said) now their new reason is Bankruptcy. I applied for their secured card anyway and was turned down for the same reason. That's the 1 HP on Experian. I don't really care for Discover anyway.
As for CapOne, I have a QS VISA that was upgraded from the Journey VISA and a QS1 MC with a $39 annual fee. I've thought about a Walmart MC but I don't shop at Walmart and don't want the 3 pulls.

I don't have any prequalified offers for their credit cards but I did get a $45,000 preapproval for an auto loan. The rates vary between cars I've seen 5.56%-13%. I'm not really shopping for a car right now.

As for my starter cards, I have Indigo with no AF, granted it's only $300 but it doesn't cost. Blaze MC increased me from $500 to $1500 and both years I've called in and they waived the AF.

Similar to Blaze, there's a few cards like Legacy Visa, and such. But there's a bank near me called First Savings Bann that only has an option to apply in person for their cc, no AF and 1% back on all purchases. I'm thinking it'll be easy to get.

Here's the link to the page. It says to call a branch or stop in and apply in person.

 https://www.firstsavingsbanks.bank/personal-loans.htm

it's the only credit card listed.

On the firstsavingscc page there's a link to the card contracts. This one is the first one with no AF, all the other ones have the typical subprime card AF's.

I burned them back in 2017 and I got back in with Paypal MC.

Re: Ready for an app spree

With a 680 you shouldn't be looking at secured cards at all. Do you have military affiliation in your family? If so, NFCU. If not, maybe try DCU. Best success with DCU happens if you open checking and savings when you apply.

BECU seems very willing to help rebuilders so I would definitely app there.

PayPal is one of Sync's easiest cards to get so definitely worth tossing an app and seeing what happens. Worst case scenario it's just a HP. HPs matter very little when you're on a BK scorecard.

Re: Ready for an app spree

Thank you all!

I've burned DCU and PenFed, and don't have any military family to get into Navy or USAA. Maybe one day they'll open it up to anybody.
