Been a lurker here for a while. I am planning on applying for a chase preferred. I had applied for autoloan recently in the past 4 weeks. I already have an approval but it did dip my scores down coz I was shopping with local banks and spoke to the dealer's finance and told me he can get lower rates which he did. Now i have 6-9 from each credit bureau with scores 709 EQ 739 EX 739 Trans. No negatives. Except for a 0% installment on my apple card and a personal loan. I think because my prev auto loan closed recently too it dropped my score too. I am 4/24 for chase. Should I app for the sapphire? Or have reservations?
All those auto loan INQs will get lumped together but it might take a month or two for it to reflect on your scores if that's what you are worried about. Chase is looking at open credit card accounts and being a rather large bank should be able to figure out you went car shopping recently and will be able to tell that you only have one new car loan account. It happens to a lot of people every day after all. Same deal with mortgages as well and people will apply for new credit as soon as they are done closing and it's fine. Don't let it worry you at all. If you want to be super duper careful wait 3 months then apply. I say go for it.
