Recon help

Against my better judgement I went ahead and app'd for the CSP last night and got the 7-10 day message. I called into recon this morning to see if I could get approval and after being put on hold several times I was told they could not approve the app because my total credit with Chase was at its max.

I was just recently approved for a 17k ritz and I have a business acct with them at 4500 and a freedom with them at 250. The rep told me once my acct number was created for the ritz I could transfer some of the cl over to the preferred to get it approved. I hung up, thought about what he said and called back. I asked a different rep if I closed the 2 other accounts out to free up 4750 if they could approve the CSP and he said that would probably work.

So I closed both accounts, called back and the rep said he still could not approve it because to him the business card didn't reflect on my credit profile and I'd still have to transfer from my 17k. He also said that because my highest limit before the 17k was 5600 they were very generous with their offer. I feel like I was mislead and robbed of 4500 of non reporting credit. I don't want to move any money from my ritz because that's an awesome SL. I'm debating on calling back in on Monday. Thoughts?????

Re: Recon help

Plead for them to re-open your business account if I were you and if you really want the CSP then transfer from your Ritz..  Giving up a hidden TL wasn't the best decision in my humble opinion.  Best of luck with whatever way you go.. I would really try to get them as stated to open that hidden business tradeline back up without an additional HP!

Re: Recon help

Well business cards and personal cards are 2 seperate entities. I suggest just waiting 6 mos and reapplying for the CSP to get a better satrting limit and then you wouldn't need to move any CLs around. If it would still be a no go and you still want the card then maybe move lines down the road. Just my opinion.

Re: Recon help

So if I do decide to move 5k from the Ritz how long do you think it will take to get the Ritz back up to 17k or higher with increases?? I plan on spending about 2k/month on the card and PIF each month.

probably will never reach 17k again if you transfer to open your CSP unless in the future a few years down the line you open another card and move some of that limit to your Ritz.. Chase isn't known to really give out CLI's especially when you have over a 10k CL already unless you are bumping up to said limit per month and even then they aren't really generous with CLI's..  So ya either wait a year and re-apply for the CSP and see if chase can offer you more or move some of your Ritz limit to open the CSP and lower your Ritz limit to 12k..  I guess if I were you I would move some off the Ritz limit as your took the HP and mise well meet the spend bonus on the CSP and get rewarded for it, if they are offering to open it for you..  I assume you are wanting it for the bonus mainly as you closed out the freedom which makes the CSP such a powerful tool..

Side note I spend about 1500 a month on the my CSP with a limit of 10k and have haven't seen any love and approaching 6 months with it, if that offers you any data points, so 2k a month spend isn't huge on a 10k+ limit probably in their eyes to justify a CLI..  I just accept the fact that I will have to eventually open another card with Chase in the future if I want more credit with them.. That isn't really a bad thing as the bonuses are great with them if your AAoA can handle it.. Along with Chases evolving too many recent accounts opened in the last 24 months policy.

Re: Recon help

You need to slow up a bit with them.  In your shoes you should have waited a couple months after the Ritz approval and then tried for the CSP.  They were generous with the $17K CL on the Ritz.  Had you waited you would have been clearer about your options.  If they're not going to approve you for a new card while you're on the phone with them, never close out any card because subsequent approvals are never guaranteed.  Follow CC's advice and try to get that business card restored.  You never want to lose that.  If yo go overboard with them then you risk some potential AA.  Be patient
