Not sure what to make of this. Got a call this morning from a random number in Delaware - 302-427-3930. I missed the call, but when I looked up the number, there seems to be a number of people who believe it to be some scam. At the same time, they all mentioned the person claimed to be affiliated with chase. I figured I would call automated number again, and this time it has changed to the 7-10 day message. I'm hoping that was the verification call.
Also - today is the day my Credit Reports were set to be re-frozen, as I had temporarily lifted them for the month of August. Not sure if that has any bearing on things - what do you guys think?
I want to call verification, but at the same time I want to be prepared to speak to lending, as with the 7-10 day message I don't see getting around it if verification wants to transfer me. Any tips?
At this point you should call and deal with whomever they have speak to you whether it's verification or lending. Generally the switch from the 30 day message to 7-10 day message is not a positive one. Get ahead of this now before your reports are frozen again. If its lending just say that you are calling to check on your application (play dumb) and want to know what more info you can provide to assist them in you being approved. Other than that be prepared to address any questions that they might have about your credit report. Good luck.
Thanks for reply. I'm wondering if they'll cite that my total available credit does not exceed $10,000. As far as I know, they are only aware of my 2 AMEX accounts, and my Discover account. My new NFCU cashRewards has not yet been reported, and it would bring my total available credit to $10,000. Also, I want to point out to them that typically I put most of my charges on to me PRG, which has relatively high monthly balances that are always paid in full. Do you think I should tell them I'd be fine with the minimum limit of $5,000? Should I mention the NFCU account if they don't know about it? Advice very much appreciated!

I don't think you need to mention any of this. Don't volunteer info unless they ask. Just answer whatever questions that they have. More than likely their biggest concern is that you don't have any existing cards with Chase but that alone won't prevent you being approved.
7-10 day message on the automated line generally is not a good thing. But at this point you may as well call and try to see if it's simply verification or if you have in fact been denied in which case you can attempt recon. When you hear 7-10 days on the automated line the decision has probably already been made so there's no point in waiting now. The app line never says "declined".

I called verification at (800)278-8830 from my landline, and after I gave the lady some info, she told me she was transfering me to the Ritz Carlton Rewards Department or something along those lines. Another person answered the phone and told me she needed to call me on the number I put on my application (or maybe it was the number linked to my credit report - placed an initial fraud alert on my report not long ago, but I thought it had expired). I hung up, and she called me on my cell. From there she said she needed to send a 6 digit code for me to verify. Once I did that, she put me on a brief hold, and then told me I was approved!
Wooooo! Congrats
