Ritz Approval odds? *UPDATE* 30 day to 7-10 message

Re: Ritz Approval odds?

Actually, I don't know if I'll have the patience to hold off until next year.  If I am able this month to bring my utilization under 10% - I was thinking around 5%-7%, and with my total available credit having increased to $10,000 (just noticed this by the way.  (I thought NFCU's $2300 limit was a strange number, but combined with my Discover $3700 limit and AMEX $4000, the math adds up perfectly to $10,000 - or could this be a coincidence?) I would pay all my cards down to 0 except for one which I would leave at $500-$700.

I have 4 TU Inquries, 2 EXP (although one set to fall off end of october, the other will be a year old this month), and 0 EQ as of today.

Do you think the lower utilization would be enough to increase my chances of getting the Ritz?

Re: Ritz Approval odds?

I was approved for this card ($8.5k SCL)  with an EX 681 and 20% Utilization and it was an instant approval. I def have more inquiries than you as well. I just received the card yesterday and boy is the packaging impressive!!! (AMEX needs to take note...my Platinum came in a plain white box which was not impressive at all considering the high AF. )

I think you'd be a shoe in for this card with the data points you provided. For some my $8.5k SCL may seem low but it is more than sufficient for me needs. The offer I was approved for is the AF of $395 and spend  $4k in 3 months to get 2 complimentary nights. I was able to contact customer service last night to get the new offer of spending  $5k in 3 months and get 3 complimentary night and keep the lower AF.

My card is only a VS I will have to wait to get it upgraded to the Infinite. They are focusing on existing customers right now but according to the CSR I should expect to have my card upgraded soon.

Just applied - got the 7-10 day message.  Anyone have a number to recon?  I really don't see what the issue would be.  My PRG monthly spend is around 5-9000 each month, and that's PIF.

Thanks - Haven't been denied yet, and the automated line states that I'll be notified of a decision in writing within 30 days... Looking that up yields a number of approvals - so I'll wait and see what happens.

I had anticipated getting a Ritz or Marriot card last year and had set up a Marriot Rewards account, which I just the other day transfered to a Ritz Rewards membership.  The strange thing is that today I received two Ritz emails, one telling me it was my 1 Year membership annivesary, and then another an hour or so later "Welcoming" me to Ritz Rewards.  Probably unrelated to the Ritz card, but still somewhat odd.

Thanks, and I will.  Not sure if the best move is to continue to wait, or call the backdoor and figure out what is needed.  Seems like the waiting game is the best bet.

There should be an Official Chase 30 Day Message Purgatory Therapy Group Thread.

Re: Ritz Approval odds?

Ok I have an update.

Not sure what to make of this.  Got a call this morning from a random number in Delaware - 302-427-3930.  I missed the call, but when I looked up the number, I found posts from people claiming it to be some scam.  At the same time, they all mentioned the person claimed to be affiliated with chase.  I figured I would call the  automated number again, and this time it has changed to the 7-10 day message.  I'm hoping that was the verification call.

Also - today is the day my Credit Reports were set to be re-frozen, as I had temporarily lifted them for the month of August.  Not sure if that has any bearing on things - what do you guys think?

I want to call verification, but at the same time I want to be prepared to speak to lending, as with the 7-10 day message I don't see getting around it if verification wants to transfer me.  Any tips?

At this point you should call and deal with whomever they have speak to you whether it's verification or lending.  Generally the switch from the 30 day message to 7-10 day message is not a positive one.  Get ahead of this now before your reports are frozen again.  If its lending just say that you are calling to check on your application (play dumb) and want to know what more info you can provide to assist them in you being approved.  Other than that be prepared to address any questions that they might have about your credit report.  Good luck.
