Yes, you can. It will actually make the application process faster should you be approved.
I think I am maxed out on new accounts w/ Chase
What makes you say that? I didn't look at your siggy but how many Chase cards do you have and what are their limits?
Well I mean new accounts in general, I have an offensive amount of new accounts within the past 12 months. Also I applied under the old terms of the Ritz. I am seriously hoping that its just verification. I forgot what people do now a days, call CSR ask if verification then hangup if transferred? or just call auto status line?
This card is not part of the 5/24 Chase rule. Trust me. I was just approved today for $23k. About 16 months ago I decided to switch up my cc lineup. I cancelled some of the cards I used to have and applied for new ones. In this 15 months I have now added 10 new cards.

That is encouraging, I should have known better to apply on a Friday evening.
I applied on the 10th for an Instant Approval of $34K. I used my Marriott rewards number on the application and I see that my Marriott account is upgrade to Gold status already (card has not arrived yet).
I know that I can keep the Gold status if I churn through $10,000 a year on the Ritz card. I am wondering when the year starts? I will be putting on $5K in spend in the next three months for the the sign-up bonus and hopes that counts toward next years Gold status.

Off topic, but how much AF do you pay between all the cards you have?

Me? Right now on paper I'm north of $1,500, Ritz will bring it closer to $2k. However I've gotten most of the AFs waived or offset. I also redeem the benefits like credits, etc...
The one thing that I'm not thrilled about is my Amex Platinum, Green, Prestige, CSP, Marriott and RItz annual fees will all be within 2-3 months of each other. The Platinum, Prestige and Ritz (if approved) all being due in the same month!
Cool.... I hope there is an approval in your future. Keep us posted!!!
I was recently approved for this card and I absolutely love it!!! The packaging it came in was pretty impressive.

I'd have to add it up but off the top of my head, somewhere between $1400 and $1500 per year. I know it sounds like a lot but when you take into consideration that between personal and business spend, I put somwwhere between $150k and $250k per year through my cards, and the rewards I get because of it, it is not bad. I get a lot of cash back, miles and points that save me well more than the fees I pay.
