Hello MF,
I am 2 months into rebuilding and I have gotten some solid rebuilders right off the bat so I am headed off to the garden now already but I have thought of a question regarding my next stepping stones:
Does the Amazon store card through SYNC play any internal role/score with Amazon to help upgrade to the Amazon Visa through Chase? I'm trying to pave the road to them in another 18 months or so. I've seen on here how people state we have an internal score with our NFCU membership which plays a role with our next step toward better cards within NFCU's network. Has anyone made in with Chase through Amazon by 1st starting with the Amazon store card?
Amazon doesn't play a role in the underwriting for Chase's or Amex's or Synchrony's Amazon cards.
Because the store card is from a different bank (synchrony) it will have no special impact or benefit on your ability to get into Chase with the prime visa.
I would at the very least be enrolled in Chase's credit journey product to keep an eye on if Chase has any preapproved offers for you as you rebuild

@GZG Perfect, thanks for all of this clarification. I keep getting these pop ups on Amazon to apply for the SYNC store card and I close it out then I get one for the Chase Amazon Visa neither if which have I applied for or plan to but it made me wonder if it was a way in with Chase.
I'm not sure what the Chase Credit Journey product is unless it is the free credit monitoring enrollment, if so I'll sign up. Thx!

That's exactly what it is. As @GZG mentioned one of the features of the tool is that Chase leverages it to extend targeted preapproval offers.

@coldfusionThanks. I filled it all out and it said based on the information I've supplied it can't complete my application. Weird. It is supposed to be free and no Chase account required. It was just name, address, SSN, email and cell which was all accurate but it won't take my info to join the free product. I have never had any Chase or AMEX accounts, no BK...not on any sort of blacklist...I will keep looking into it. Thanks!

No. It's a totally different thing. Your credit profile will determine getting the Chase Amazon card, not your Amazon relationship.

I'm sure there are people who had one and then also got the other; but I'm also sure there was no connection, other than the usual connection that all prior credit cards affect your credit profile.

The best thing you can do for Chase is to NOT apply for other cards you don't really want, since Chase frowns upon a large number of prior new revolving accounts being opened in the 2 years prior to the application.

yeah their identity verification is rather strict/errant/not cooperative, I had to open a savings account with Chase in branch to get my profile to work

@GZG I see, ok good to know. I will swing by Chase next week and go from there. I feel like I'm going to have savings accounts all over the place as this journey begins as I now have new ones at NFCU and DCU and I bank at BOA daily so there's that one too. I've been in the trenches not using credit and only 1 bank account I'm sort of rusty on all of the tidbits thanks for chiming in. Your sig looks encouraging. 👌
