SPORTSMAN GUIDE VISA CLI?????

Hello family. My SG Visa will have its 6th statement cut tommorrow. I have ran quite a bit through it, all PIF--a few charges were over 1k--

My SL was $2800.00. Tried CLI about 45 days after activated, no dice. I hear the 6 month statement is the sweet spot, so should I go for it once the statement cuts and is posted, or wait a few days after?.........I also have Overstock, SL was $250.00 --now is $4500.00. Used it frequently.

So, request CLI the day the 6th statement posts or wait a day or two after. Thanks in advance

Re: SPORTSMAN GUIDE VISA CLI?????

You can request a CLI around 6 months from the approved/open date. But, if you prefer to wait until the 6th statement generates, then that's definitely an option.

Hmm, You have me thinking now. The card was opened August 28th 2021---1st statement cut Sept 16th, so I figured the February 17th statement was the 6 month mark, as I will have 6 full statements posted tommorrow, but in actually doing the math, actual 6 months is not until Feb 28th---12 days after the Feb 17th statement?????---------so @FinStar ---whats should I do to maximize my chances of a CLI?.......wait until the 28th?

Since the account was opened on 8/28, I would wait at least until 2/28 (or a few days after) to ensure it's not requested too prematurely. Comenity store cards typically have less strict timelines since the CLIs can be requested after receiving the card. But, the V/MC, with a few exceptions, follow a bit of a different beat. If it were me, I'd try for it on 3/1 to be on the safe side.

Then, thats what I will do. You have WAY more experience on these matters than I do, and I respect that. I will wait till 3/1---here's a thought too, what if I go ahead and make a decent size purchase, say---$1200.00-$1500.00, and soon as it posts so I can pay it off, I will. I could do that before it goes on my the next statement balance so it shouldn't effect my Utilization---hell, its only at 2% now anyhow with 7 cards and 22K of credit. My thought process is---  if I can show I am using a substantial amount of the cards limit, that would help them justify a nice CLI, I made a $1250.00 purchase in January and only ran about $2600.00 since opened---whats your thoughts on that?

I mean, it wouldn't hurt since there can be times (although we don't see it reported too frequently) where Comenity V/MCs receive automatic CLIs based on usage. But, it is definitely coded internally that you are demonstrating responsible, active use of the card versus just using it for a pack of gum once in a blue moon.

FWIW, I have this same exact card and I was approved (coincidentally on the same date) back in 2015. I called the automated phone system on 2/29/16 and was approved for a $2K CLI. It has grown to $20K (with moderate usage) and that's where it sits today. After your first successful CLI request, then you can try again every 4 months.

I will do that then, as like you say--it certainly cant hurt anything. I got this card thru the SCT---was surprised actally as I was in my BK13--then to get $2800.00 was like wow. The BK was DC December 2021. I have all CRA's frozen, should I unfreeze the one Commenity uses when I request the CLI?

Awesome. I wasn't lucky with the SCT back then so it was a cold app, but it sounds like luck was on your side 😁

I don't think they need to be thawed, but I'll let other members chime in on that piece since mine are not frozen. If anything, they typically SP EQ, so that would be the only one they would use.

Id like to see a 2k CLI.....gets me close to that 5k mark. My EQ is in great shape, IMO for having a DC'ed BK,  its 703 Fico 8. Thanks a bunch for the time to respond. I learned some tough lessons about Credit and am looking forward to having the BK drop off in a few years, and see my scores shoot up. My goal is to get in the 800"s after the BK falls off. Being on this site is a real benefit. Thanks again

Anytime @rchvmz.

Glad to hear your credit journey is shaping up in a positive direction and I have no doubt you'll reach that 800 score milestone at some point. Definitely update your thread depending on the outcome. Fingers crossed on your CLI🤞
