I chatted with SYNCH/Amazon tonight after being declined a CLI from $400 to $600. I explained my credit score has improved since the account was opened (by 80 points), and they say my lack of any real estate loan is why they will not give a CLI. They refused a CLI recon and said it is all computerized and they cannot do anything to change the result.
Not much of a reason to use my Amazon card any longer since my orders are almost always late, and customer service sucks. Once I get other options, the SYNCH account will be closed.

Very interesting! The only score that penalizes you for no real estate loan is VantageScore 4.0. Alliant provides it even though their description says it's a VantageScore 3.0, but my Vantage 4.0 is 810 versus VantageScore 3.0's are 760 & 765.
Anyway, these are the reason codes for my score level.
Is Synch using VS 4.0 to approve new cards or just for CLI's?
Note, Alliant doesn't state which bureau they use for the VS 4.0 but I'm going to assume it's TU. The score hasn't change in a year. They give it quarterly.
810
December 2021
1. Lack of real estate secured loan information
2. Too high proportion of balances from bankcards (LOL. I only have one bankcard report $5
and I'm always AZEO. Whatever)
3. Bankruptcy
4. Lack of first mortgage account information.
I'll take the higher VS score but I don't get all these real estate demerits.

Both.
Although, there are some situations where they may/could use TU8 for new accounts. It's mostly VS4, though.

Your experiences with Amazon and its card are very different from mine! I have the Amazon Prime Store Card, issued by Synchrony, and it has a 5-figure limit. I don't recall its initial CL, but I know I've requested and received numerous CLIs since then--and I have *no* real estate loans whatsoever, nor have I since long before I opened this account, i.e., my mortgage long ago fell off my reports and couldn't have been a deciding factor here.
Also, their customer service is always excellent. They start out by thanking me for being a long-time Prime member, and they always resolve whatever problem I may have, to my satisfaction and then some! They routinely tell me I don't have to send back whatever the problem product is, like an expensive purse I didn't like once I saw it in person (it was WAY too big). In 20+ years, I've only had to return one item, and that was for internal quality control (it was a computer part which failed out of the box, and since they'd had other, similar reports they wanted to do some investigating).
I love my card! Its 5% cash back on all purchases is great. Considering how much I order from Amazon, the rewards add up quickly! There has been a definite slow-down as far as delivery times go, but considering the global pandemic we've been in, I've accepted it for what it is. In non-pandemic times, delivery is very quick.
If you're not happy with this card and/or Amazon, I can certainly understand wanting to close the card. But I like mine so much I'm very biased, and would suggest keeping it, at least long enough to see if another CLI request, maybe in a few months, will have a better outcome. There's no question that its limit *can* be a lot higher than your current limit, you just may need to give it time.

I'm sorry about your denial.
The limit on your card is very much in line with your other cards and with your current scores.
You are free to close perfectly good account, I wouldn't expect much better results with other lenders, though.
Aa your credit improves, so will Synchrony's approach to your profile.
In any case, if you have "no reason to use card" but you have a use for Open Sky (secured, no rewards), you're approaching this wrong.
You started rebuilding two months ago, you will need patience or it will never work
I have been an Amazon customer since 1995. I only recently applied for the credit card, because I want the 5% back.
I believe the denial is due to Sagestream, and I have read about the lawsuits against them, so I am not the only one they are screwing over. I also believe a lot of it has to do with my having Identity Theft many times. That is a sticking point with me as well, as I am the victim, and I am the one having to jump through hoops, get attorenys involved, take time from work, etc.
Amazon has been hit or miss with me. We used to move a lot, and my orders always arrived on time. Now, rarely. I ordered some bird feeders and food to be delivered yesterday morning before 7:30am so my grandkids could enjoy feeding the birds before going home. I paid ~$3.00 to have the shipping rushed, and it did not arrive until around Noon, after the kids went home at 10am. That happens a lot. Or, I look, and they send my shipment down towards Houston and I live near Denton, TX. It is disheartening to enter into an agreement, that I will pay above my Prime shipping (which is free
) and I will receive items earlier. I could easily jump in the car and drive to Walmart but I trust Amazon. Guess I am old fashioned and believe if an agreement is entereed into, both parties do their best to honor it.
Every now and then I get someone that may be rude or condescending, but not so much with Amazon. My experience was with Synchrony and she was adamant that my credit is "not good enough" and there is nothing she can do.
Thanks for your input, and I am going to hang on to it for a few more months.
My issue with Synchrony is the attitude of their rep and the rigidity. Although Amazon is not the one issuing the account, I have been their customer since 1995 (the same year my first husband and I married) and have spent a lot of money with their company.
I do not have anything negative on my reports. I have several personal loans that have been paid in full. I own my home outright, make a very good living, have never had a late payment, collection or Bankruptcy.
I do not see where I have approached anything wrong, with the OpenSky card, I know what my limit is and what it always will be. I set it and it is based off nothing more than the amount of cash I decide to hand over to OpenSky.
I believe in brand loyalty, but I also believe in treating a person like a person and not as a number.
I came to this site looking for guidance, and perhaps I should go back to having my attorney handle this while I continue in my ignorance.
According to your own Tag line you only started credit rebuilding 2 months ago. The rebuilding process is a marathon not a sprint. To be honest I'd say you're fortunate to have the CL with Amazon you have now. I agree with others that my experience with Amazon and the Store card is way different than yours and has been very good. Don't try to force things.
