Unless you have a lot of recent credit seeking behavior I would be surprised if you were not approved given the stats you listed.

What makes this card attractive to you?

If your profile were marginal I would have suggested stay away since the fate of Saks is far from certain.

Unless you have some high stakes credit application coming up you should be fine either way.

My error on calling it a store card rather than cobranded.  I do try to go more for cobranded cards because I like the ability to make use of the extra ways to earn points towards the rewards.  In regards to what makes it attractive, I like the ability to save at Saks through the rewards.  The 10% off first day approval is nice, too.  The SaksFirst Beauty Rewards program looks rather interesting too.  I'd have to talk with them to find out more about that.  And heck, I really like the look of the black card.  Also, there's a Saks nearby in NC and an Off 5th, too, going the other direction from where I am on the weekends.

It's not a set in stone card for me yet, but it's definitely on my radar.  Trying to find a good store cobranded card for places I like to shop and then go from there.

By the way, is it just me or does Cap1 have a large stake in holding luxury retail cards.  They hold Saks, Neiman Marcus, and Lord & Taylor (which was luxury at one time).  I'm sure they my hold more than I'm thinking.  Smiley Very Happy

You are correct, the Saks Fifth Avenue WEMC is an apply in store only card; it is a single HP they use TU. The hardest part is getting to Saks. They have their own in house CSR staff and you do nothing with Capital One unless you call and the Saks CSR office in Mississippi is closed. Then you will be forwarded to a Capital One CSR. I have pasted both my approval and CLI approval posts here for you to review. I would personally say the card is worth it for the 3X points at spa's, salons and barbershops alone. I primarily use it for that when not shopping at Saks. You cannot see it in my avatar but there is a beautiful blonde Mohawk on top of my head. So I spend more than my fare share of time and money at a barbershop. I hope you make the decision that you feel is best for you. If you have any other questions I am available.

First off, nice mohawk.  I'm always jealous of good hair!  Smiley Very Happy  My other half is the one that's really into his hair, so this would definitely be a benefit for him when he goes and has it cut and styled.  Heck, I'd probably up my game, too!

I appreciate all the info and the links to your posts.  Thank you for that!  I will say it's encourgaging to hear that I'd be dealing more with Saks than I would with Cap1.  I'm not a huge fan of the latter so the less, the better.  The only thing that worries me a bit in comparison to your stats would be my income is around $42k.  Not sure if they have a set income they like to see.  But, I do keep everything (outside of my BestBuy) paid to zero each month.

On an unrelated side note, impressive arsenal of cards there.  Loved seeing the Blues Discover card there.  Smiley Very Happy  I'd love to get one of the NHL cards but Discover always offers me such high APRs.  :-/

Yeah it does.  We like going to Byrn Mawr in St. Augustine, Florida (Cresent Beach) and that's the nearest Saks. A 2.5 hr. road trip on the Interstate about 98%.....boring tail drive.  When we go to the beach we take our motorhome so then it's a 3 hr. drive...it'll happen sometime but not before Covid-19 calms down and goes away in Florida, no way is a card worth all that.

Anyway, you have a good question about Saks M/C and income.  I'd like to know too.

The NM inCircle card is a waste of time @dsotm76 it is a store card and there is no co-branded version. There is no growth potential in that card whatsoever. That one is not worth the HP IMHO.

Re: Saks World Elite MasterCard through Cap1

Thank you. If you want a Disco card I say get it. I personally don't worry about APR's because I PIF with your scores it's obvious you have good credit behaviors. The way I approach it is just get them out of the **bleep** way. Get what you want and talk about the terms when you are in the door and they know you. Not in the nice to meet you phase. Regarding the income aspect of things I cannot comment on Saks/Cap 1's view. However, you need a $5,000 limit to qualify for the WEMC. Majority of your cards are over the $5,000 CL so you probably have a better chance you think.

Hey everyone!

So, I'm thinking about adding another "store" card to my arsenal.  The one that I have my eye on is the Saks World Elite MasterCard by Cap1.  I'm not a big fan of Cap1, but, I figured a store card might bet a better fit for me with them.  I did the prequals on their site for their cards and was offered a couple at the highest APR.  I know the Saks is an apply in store card.  What do they like to see in order for approval?

Need to update my scores, but all are over 775.  Got my Chase back in Feb.  Purchased a second car in May on loan through Mazda Financial Services.  Utilization is between 1%-2%.

Thanks for any help.  I don't see a lot of posts about this card.

I just applied for this card instore on the 26th. Datapoints Income 125K, 752 EQ score intially approved for 1,500 reconned on the spot to 7,000. I did apply in store. I previously had a store card with a 7K limit just told them to match that account. Sure I could have went higher but its not a daily driver.

Amex ED: 8K, Macys Amex: 4K , BOA Premium Rewards: 60K , Best Buy Visa: 7K , VACU Mastercard: 11.5K Discover: 25K, Amex Delta Reserve 15k, Apple Card:3.5K, Saks WEMC 16.2K, PNC Cash Unlimited: 20K

That's good to know.  I was hoping that the strength of some of my other cards would make a difference.  I'll definitely keep it in mind and report if I pull the trigger.  I'm eyeing next weekend.  :-)

On an unrelated side note, with your Discover NHL, did you cold app for the NHL or did you pre-qual through the Discover site and then get them to switch it over after approval?

Thanks for the dps!  When you reconned on the spot, how does that work in store?
