Hello all,
last week I went to Sam's Club to buy some things and was not expecting to be prequalified for thier mastercard at the register.
I decided to pass and look up the benefits and found it's a 5% cash back on gas! I was surprised and tempted since my highest gas cash back card is the BankAmericard with 3% (Excluding Chase and Discover's rotational category)
Anyway, my question is if I have a good chance at getting the card and if it's worth an inquiry.
I attached the prequalification paper they gave me.
how did they obtain your info? do you have some type of card with them?
No, I only have their membership card and I am not the original owner, I was added by my mom since I use their gas station quiet a bit.
in that case, i wouldn't go for it...unless you know you have good credit. i just saw the #s again and it says the cl is 8k w 2k avail today. would you normally get approved for that type of line? also, i'd consider what info of yours they actually have to prequalify you (ssn, etc). doesn't sound like a sure thing to me.
Do you head through a cashier lane or self-service lane???
I went to the cash resgister.
Not sure how they got my info, but my average credit lines average about 16 k, and my credit score is 756 TU, 752 EXP.
Estukay,
That is pretty solid! The card is worth it just for the 5% cash back.

If you already have a Sychrony card of any stripe, I would consider this golden.
What if I don't?
I have no store cards of any kind, and no synchrony cards?
Estukay,
If it were me and I didn't already have the Sam's MC, I would go for it. The only thing you have to lose is a HP.
