I am new to credit and credit cards. I currently have a Discover it card secured with $200, a best buy card for $1000 (i'm an authorized user and responsible for it aswell.) and I just got approved for a Capital One Platinum Card for $300. My credit score according to CK is TU 650 EQ 655 and Capital One CreditWise says 650. Discover is unable to find a FICO score for me, probably due to my credit being new. I have had the Discover it card for 4 months, Best Buy 3 months and Capital One 1 month. I wanted to get a laptop from Apple for school, around $1600 and wanted to finance it with the Barclaycard. I have no prior credit to this besides Acceptance Now, which I closed after 1 year, I paid it off because of the interest. Im a 20 year old college student. What do my approval odds look like to you guys? or should I just wait? Thank you!
Welcome to the forums Chris!
I would suggest waiting until you have 6 months of history with your first card and then checking your FICO scores on credit check total for a buck.. As long as you're paying on time and keeping your utilization low, you should have some pretty good starting scores
I can speak from experience that some of the bigger lenders like to see an actual FICO score before approving you. Good luck!

Welcome to the forums.
Barclays likes to see about a year of payment history, so if the Discover card is only 4 months old, then I would wait until April of next year before applying. Also, since all you have are vantage scores, that would be another reason to wait until you're able to get a real TU score before even considering applying for the card.

Okay, thank you! I'll just wait like you said.
