Scoring

Hello,

Is the FICO really the most common used scoring when applying for credit (credit cards, auto loan, personal loan, etc)?

Can you request a creditor to perform a soft inquiry first when applying for credit?

Thanks

Re: Scoring

Welclome to the board.  The answer to your former question is "Yes" and the answer to the latter is " No".  You can't request a creditor do a soft inquiry before appying for a CC.  It does not work that way.

Thanks for replying so fast!

And because there are 3 scoring (TU, EQ, and EX), is it a good idea to ask the creditor which report they are pulling from?  Because I know AMEX pulled Experian only, but CAP1 pulled from all 3 credit bureaus.

You are welcome.  You can ask but it won't be honoured.  Every company has it's own policy and if you want their product, you'd have to abide by them unfortunately.
