Seeking recommendations!

My DH is looking to apply for one or two cash back cards with good bonuses, and I was wondering if you all could help me decide what I should recommend to him as far as what he's likely to be approved for.

His Fico scores are 753 Experian, 789 Equifax, and 784 Transunion.

He has one card of his own, a secured Harborstone card with $300 limit, no rewards and an annual fee. He's had it for over 3 years. He says the rep told him they do not offer any option for the card to graduate. He is also an AU on 3 of my cards. AAOA is 3 years, 4 months. No lates, no collections. One inquiry, which will be removed July of this year.

What cash back and good bonus cards would you recommend he apply for?

Re: Seeking recommendations!

I would recommend the paypal mc 2%cb.  Or the Citi DC.  either of them would be good starter cb cards.

Re: Seeking recommendations!

There are plenty of good cashback cards with signup bonuses it just depends on what his monthly spend looks like i.e. restaurants, groceries, travel, etc. and we can better help your DH better.

Re: Seeking recommendations!

Right off the bat I would say to check the prequals for Discover and Amex. Both are excellent for cash back and often easy to get even with thinner files.

Discover It: 26.5k
Amex Cash Magnet: 24.4k
Fidelity Visa: 21.5k
Apple Card: 13k
CapOne Venture X: 10k

When we go for bonuses we generally put all of our combined expenses on that card as much as possible. We do no resturants or travel. We spend $250 or less on groceries per month, and about $225/month on gas. Are there any other categories I'm missing?

Re: Seeking recommendations!

Discover it is a great option but it has rotating categories. If any of their categories fit your spending that would be a good option to look into as they also match all the cash back you earned the first year.

If you don’t want to keep up with categories I would recommend looking into Citi DC (no SUB) or the freedom unlimited currently offering 3% back your first year
