If I was in your situation it would be soooo tempting to pull the trigger on this. Even as I read through the thread, that temptation seemed even more. What will you do?

I wish someone would try! I have decided NOT to. But I would love to see if it is a real pre approval.

What's the likehood of getting approved after getting in the email for a selected offer for the Amex ED? I already have the BCP and PRG. Amex emailed me this offer and it says "Congratulations, You're selected to apply for an exclusive offer, apply for the Amex Everyday credit card as a companion to your PRG and earn 15,000 membership rewards". Amex also gave me an RSVP code for the application. I already apped for this card about a little over a month ago but I was denied. Thanks.

I have the AMEX ED card and I recieved one of those "Congratulations" emails to apply for the Platinum card. I was leery at first because of all the cards I had accumulated up to that point and I was sure I wouldn't get approved. But with the wording of the email and the RVSP #, I decided to go for it and was approved!! Go for it! If they decline you, there's no HP, so you have that going for you...

When I clicked on the link, it was like an application, but everything was preloaded and I did have to enter the last 4. It was quick though, no wait message at all. I blinked and there was the "Approved!" message.

Forgive me, I am new to posting... Apparently I have to wait a bit before I can make a sig.

Amex ED was 1k upon approval, did the 3X CLI after 6 months to 3k

I'm at 20% Util and FICO is in the 680 area

And the Platinum is NPSL of course. I didn't need the card but I got greedy and said MORE!!!

Re: Selected to apply for an Exclusive Offer for Amex ED

My bad...I thought your approval was for the ED card...I re-read your post and it says Platinum Card instead of the Everyday Card...I wonder if that changes anything....

Only thing I can think of is that I had a foot in the door with the ED card? Charge cards easier to get? Don't know. I was originally saying to the OP that the email offer is directed towards that particular person, not just a mass email.
