just tried for victoria's secret and it worked. pre-approved with a $750 limit. now i can feel a little better about myself when i have to spend stupid amounts of money for my girlfriend

I tried for Overstock. Got the pre-approval popup where it was asking for my full SSN. Went for it, and was approved for $1,000. Was a bit surprised, since I did burn Comenity for a few hundred in my CH7 BK that was just discharged last month. Made an order already, needed some casual shoes for work.

Still working. I have had success with overstock, wayfair, victoria's secret, express, and west elm.

I'm not sure if there are threads that answer this question, so I'll just ask.

What are the exact steps to take in order to get the shopping cart trick to work? I started with Overstock, joined their O-Rewards (silver) and went through the process of checking out. Nothing.

I got the Overstock popup today .. First time I've seen the SCT work. I grabbed some random item, checked out as a guest, and after filling out the initial name/address screen it popped up. 

I didn't go any further, because I really didn't want the random item and didn't know if I was going to be forced to buy it to get the card.

Also just got Wayfair .. I went thru with this one and got a $500 limit. Didn't have to buy the thing I put in my shopping cart.

Got Pottern Barn $1000, Overstock $1500 and Wayfair $500. FWIW, this was in Google Chrome in Incognito Mode. I tried the Overstock site 3 times and it popped up each time before I finally accepted it. All 3 popped up before I had to put in my credit card number, and all 3 only asked for the last 4 of my SSN. Later that same night, I looked for Victoria Secret and Pier 1, and neither popped up. Not sure if there's a limit to the number of cards one can get in a day or what.

I got Ballard Designs to work last night--I've REALLY been wanting this card! BUT! I swore I would garden, so I resisted the urge and clicked out of it.  Had I not had a few recent Comenity cards opened, I might have given in to the temptation

Read earlier today about a HSN approval. Tried QVC since that's where I shop most. Nothing. Tried HSN and I got a pop up! My first 1 since hearing about this little trick. It already had my name and address prefilled since I have an account on the site. Asked for last 4 digits of social. Took a couples seconds and....$4000 approval.

I logged into my online barnes and noble account to buy a book.  On the checkout screen it said "you've been preapproved for the BN mastercard!".  It wanted the last 4 of my social.  I didn't accept as I don't need the card, but figured the SCT cats would want to know.

Barnes is issued by barclays, like Williams Sonoma. Preapprovals are awesome, but not inquiry free, don't confuse em

I did a few of these last weekend, Overstock 5k, HSN 2k, Sportsman 3k Visa, and Eddie card $800 or $500 (can't remember)

I regret a couple of these however....I won't use the HSN much or the Eddie card, I might cancel these right away. So peeps, you can see if you are approved for fun, but just be careful...for fun I checked VS ($500) and one or two others, no love for me from QVC even though I have spent a ton of money there in the past (but I'm sure this is up to the issuer vs QVC). 

It has been a week and no HP's, even from the SM Visa which asked full SS
