Last month (July 11th), I was pre-approved for up to the Savor One. I decided to apply for the Savor One and was declined.
Since then, I've added $7,750 in available credit to my profile + I was given an auto-CLI on my QS1 from $750 to $2,250 (after months of CLI denials).
I decided to check the Capital One pre-approval site today and was greeted with the following pre-approvals:
https://ibb.co/JqWKTsh
(Preapproved for Quicksilver, Savor One, Venture)
My question is, is it worth rolling the dice for a Savor One again or even a Venture? I'm definitely not confident that I would qualify for a Venture card after the research I've done on the forums. I wonder, though, if I'd be at good odds for a Savor One approval?
My scores are currently:
Equifax: 681
TransUnion: 656
Experian: 664
Others:
Chapter 7 Discharged: December 2019
Utilization: 2%
Total Available Credit: $15,750
Inquiries: ~7
Is it possible that I might see approval from this pre-approval, or will I more than likely waste 3 hard pulls again?
Well from my limited experience, when I did their pre qualification on their site they said I was pre qualified and i was promptly denied.......twice. I only got the SavorOne from an actual preapproval AS IN they literally emailed me that they preapproved me for the card for being an "excellent customer" and in the app itself there was a preapproval banner for the SavorOne.
Should you trust Capital One pre-approval? I think they've already answered that.
Now is it worth another triple pull? I would say no. Give it time. See if other FIs offerings might be beneficial while you let your accounts age more.
@Trini88 I agree with others and say don't chance/waste a triple pull on what may be another denial.
Perhaps cap1 is denying you on that rule they have on applications being 6 months apart and maybe they consider the cli in that equation.
PS- I think you need 700 + scores to qualify for savor
I'm in a similar boat. I applied some time ago with a pre-qualifcation depsite a weaker credit profile and was denied as well. I've been looking at this again for the 3% back on dining and grocery.
It's been thrown around that Captial One pre-qualification offers are strong however that seems that's not the case for many.
They have sent me a few mailers now for a QuckSilver with a 0% APR but no SUB. They a few weeks ago sent a Platnium MasterCard offer with no 0% intro mailer and called it an exclusive card. To me it sounds like there is a disconnect.
Are they showing you a SUB offer or not?
Honestly as far as my experience. Their pre approvals has always been solid for me. Been approved everytime.
It's probably worth it but they are weird. I was prequalified for SavorOne, Venture and Quicksilver. I had been wanting to try for the SavorOne months ago so now that I was 6 months between Apps it finally started to show up as preapproved. However there was still an old car repo on my Equifax report (the one the check for preapproval) and I wanted to let it drop off to ensure my approval and to make sure I didn't get a super low credit limit. A month goes by and the car drops off early. I check again.....im no longer getting those preapprovals. Now im only preapproved for the Secured Card, Platinum and Quicksilver One. I decided to go for it anyway and I was approved. Just got the card in the mail today.
Circa 2021, I wouldn't trust a Cap 1 pre-approval...at all. They pulled the rug our from under my daughter when she applied after telling her she was pre-approved...and there are too many reports of the same happening to others to ignore at this point.
YMMV, of course, but I wouldn't risk it...especially with their certain triple bureau pull.
