Should I Upgrade?

Hi all! I'm eligible for an 'upgrade' from my Cap 1 Journey card to the Quicksilver with no annual fee. Same CL. Obviously the rewards are better but my question is, should I go ahead and upgrade the card or apply for a second card after my credit steps is complete? I've been stuck at $300 CL and I'm wondering since my credit has improved so much since I first got the Journey card if I should just apply for the new card and hope for a better SL.

Re: Should I Upgrade?

I think most would agree that with Capital One after your credit improves and its been a while from that initial application, it is better to just apply for a new account since most likely you will be in a different "bucket". Meaning your old account is probably in a category where you will not get CLI's and stuff as easily as you might with a new account. Later on you can just merge both accounts and add the CL of the Journey card to your new QS. Good luck.

Re: Should I Upgrade?

Downside to applying for another CapOne card is the triple pull. You have some great accounts. Not sure what your trying to accomplish but, with the amount of credit cards in your sig, I'd be spending a lot of time in the garden.

Why not do both?

I would take the upgrade rather than go for a triple pull.
