Although, I do believe I did start a thread on whether or not I should wait to apply in sept. Which is why I'm now waiting until march. Was not really a thread on my odds, just whether my profile supported another app that quickly, or if I needed to let some dust settle. Austin was in that thread.
I remember this thread because of the $ difference in paying rent and rewards vs debit. How are your scores coming along so far? Did you finally get back from the edge of your seat and sit back and relax a little bit now that you have some time under your belt in the waiting process?

Yeah, somewhat patiently waiting. Lol. Ended up having to buy a car after that thread, so another profile change. Scores not really moving. Didn't change with the car loan tho. Things just slowly moving. I may start my own thread about that later. Not much changing with the scores, up or down.
Give the car loan a few months of payment history and it should start ticking up again. Slow and steady wins the race I'm considering an app for something now that my HOA switched companies and I have the ability now to use a CC for dues and assessments.... not sure if I really want to open something or just collect points on an existing card. They just switched so I'm waiting to see what kind of fee they'll tack onto the charge for using a CC and like in your situation it can vary depending on the network. Thought about using one for my prop taxes as well but they charge like 3% and that's way too much for ~$7K in taxes in fees to be worthwhile. Sometimes it's just not worth it but, your rent situation is persuasive enough to make it work for less than $5/mo fee.

From my standpoint, you made the right decision to give it 6 months
Slightly off topic here, but I think sites like Credit Karma with their "approval odds" around credit cards the moment you log in can influence a lot of people. I wouldn't be surprised if a good portion of those that have scores in the high 500's / low 600's that start an "approval odds" thread were inspired by seeing a bogus ad or blurb on such a credit monitoring site.
@BrutalBodyShots
No doubt they do. I use CK weekly to view my reports. I like to read the reviews of the cards too. There are barely any real reviews. Just a bunch of people hating they didn't get approved, blaming CK for not getting approved, or posting their approval with vantage scores. Once in a while someone will give a real fico and useful info, but most still are learning it's vantage, not fico. My vantage scores are much much higher. If I app thru the site and get approved with a 750, but my score is really 693 or lower, that isn't helping anyone in the approval odds.
A lot of people here actually know their fico scores, although not all do. I like the big ongoing thread on data points for penfed. There are soooo many cards so hard to have a thread for each card, but those are actually really helpful.
Yeah, CK while a very useful free tool for weekly tracking of TU and EQ reports is very misleading to the uninformed. People that see a CK commercial or hear about it on the radio that know nothing about credit and decide to sign up take everything they see on the site at face value. Their TU / EQ VantageScore 3.0 scores are "THEIR SCORES" and all of the fluff and information provided that goes along with it like rating every category in terms of poor/fair/good etc. is viewed as concrete.
For example, my AAoA under CKs software says that my AAoA is "poor" (about 2 years) where under FICO scoring it is "good" at 7+ years.
CKs software says I have 100% "excellent" payment history since it's only looking at the last 2 years (I think) when I know I've got a 90 day late and a 120 day late that are 3-4 years old and holding back my FICO scores considerably. If all I knew was CK, I would say to myself "cool, late payments over 2 years don't count so they aren't all that big of a deal."
I'm sure a lot of this fluff info plays into their decisions regarding "approval odds" of credit cards, too.

Try finding info for the discover it miles card on the credit pulls database. That site doesn't have everything, although it has a lot. For my state, I couldn't tell you who would get approved on that site for the miles card. I think some people may need reassurance from people who have more knowledge at times.
I find the credit pulls site to be vague. I have looked at it but some of the results can be several years old. Many changes can happened for a lender at that time. I will have to play with the filters and for my state. I have step off the point of apping doom by being a member of the forum. I amy like some of the thrreads or answers I get BUT its better than having 20 cards with low limits and maxing them out. I look at data points on here and throught the net. YMMV wih each and every app you pull.
The credit pulls database info as I'm sure you know is listed in order of the latest information to the oldest. I suggest just finding the point at which you believe that underwriting may have changed and look at the info from then until present, or just the most recent information in general, say the last 2 years. I think some of the comments on there are the most valuable, as they can indicate more information other than just score as to why someone was denied or a little more info about their approval success with respect to their profile.
