Should I apply for CSR/CSP now or wait?

Hey everyone,

I've been wanting to double dip the CSR and CSP for a while. I've been gardening for about 2 months now and was wondering whether with my current scores and stats, i'd be able to apply now or if i should double dip the CF and CFU first and then apply ~ 6 months later. Any input would be welcome!

  • TU = 718; EQ = 727; both scores according to CK
  • Current Cards: BoA Cash Rewards (9/16 - 1 yr 2 months), Discover it (9/17 - 2 months)
  • AAoA = 8 months
  • Income = 69k

Wait.

I wrote a whole thread on this topic, which you can read here:

Your CK scores are pretty meaningless.  You need to know your FICO scores.  Also your AAoA IMO should be at least 1 year prior to apping for higher end Chase products.

What are your limits on the Cash Rewards and Discover it?

Also, I’d agree that showing a year of history goes a long way to getting in with Chase.

I have a personal data point within my family where someone had FICO 8/9 scores above 740 Chase Preapprovals for Freedom/Unlimited, Slate, CSP, zero baddies, cards above $5K, under 5/24 and was declined because AAoA was under a year. No recon was attempted, however.

Also, generally one Chase card per 30 days though some approvals have slipped through the cracks.

What's your oldest account and the limits on your cards? Are you also a banking customer with Chase?

DP: I was approved for CSP $12k SL with 8m AAoA, oldest account 1 year Freedom $1000, but I also have checking/savings with them.

Oldest account is my BoA which is 1 yr 2 months. And no unfortunately no chase banks around me, nearest one is about 3.5 hours away

And what is your highest CL? Minimum for CSP is $5k and $10k for CSR. If you don't bank with Chase, they will be much more reluctant to grant you that CL if you don't have ones that are close to the minimums.

I thought Chase recently implemented a rule that you can only have one Sapphire...

I’ve also read about that one Sapphire rule.

Edit: Looks like you can hold both cards, however, only one bonus can be collected within a 24 month period.

Re: Should I apply for CSR/CSP now or wait?

You have established more than a year on a card with a limit that exceeds $5K and your scores are certainly good enough (If your FICOs are in line with your CK scores. Definitely check that out before applying.)

It doesn’t hurt to wait (only helps) but you could probably apply now.
