I have the Delta SkyMiles Classic (with no annual fee) card that I got just about 1 month ago. Yesterday it was announced that Delta employees could get the Gold Delta Card for $0 annual fee. I am a Delta employee. My question is this....Would it be better to convert my Classic Card to the Gold Card or try for a new app for the Gold card? I am wondering if there is an advantage to holding on to the Classic Card or not in terms of building my credit. I have the option of either. I'm just paranoid they will tell me "no" for the Gold Card. But then I will still have the classic card. But should I go for the gold so to speak even if it means sacrificing the classic?
Thanks.

I would say you have a very good chance of being approved if you have a good payment history with Delta, Go for the GOLD card, it is one of the easiest AMEX cards to acquire.
Is this card your oldest account? If so, leave it open and just apply for the Gold card. Why not have the 2 and see which one works best for you and then decide later? So if I were in your shoes, I'd leave the Classic open and apply for the gold card also.
