Re: Should I keep getting more CC's

They said I had 2 charge offs which I do and I explained I was 19-20 when it happened and I have been responsible since then and my history shows it.  Along with that I had a stupent student loan that is in deferment(which i still pay on) that was showing late; I have since then corrected that and it is now showing on time.  I also had a collection since I moved due to military orders 3 years ago but I never recieved a collection notice and in the hustle and bustle of things I forgot to pay as I was leaving.  I am in the process of trying to get that removed.  Along with that they told me I opened too many cards in the past year(2) and a car loan for only 5k.  Those were all the reasons.  They said they wanted to see more time gone by after I called the recon line.  Again, thank you for your help everyone!

Chase has tighten the purse strings and have become more strict so valid reasons given to you.  Citi is no better as they can be difficult as well to get in with.  Another option you'd want to look at is to check Amex- pre-qualify to see if you are pre-qualified for any of their travel cards.

But keep in mind, they have hefty annual fees.  So the Venture may have to be your go to card if all fails for now.

Re: Should I keep getting more CC's

I pre-quald for their gold card but it's not as good as the the gold premier.  The good thing about Amex is that they waive ALL annual fees for actice duty military.  Is the Amex gold a good card even without the signup bonus?  I'm not sure if I would be approved for the Amex gold Premier.  It looks like I'm stuck with CapOne for another couple years until I get more history.  I just want to make sure it is ok to get more CC's.

Believe it or not, it is easier to get their charge cards and if you are pre-approved for the gold card, you will likely get approved for the premier even though you are not pre-approved for it.  So all hope isn't lost.

As for the other companies like Chase, Citi etc, give it a year and should be able to get in with them.

Re: Should I keep getting more CC's

You got a higher limit than me on that Venture lol. Good work. Smiley Wink and I second Y-I-M's suggestion. NFCU seems very generous as well with their approvals.
