Looking to get a Citi card for DW and/or myself, but I'm worried of denial due to BK in 07 and too many new accounts (6) /inquiries.(9). Scores low 700's
Was planning on holding off till the new year untill I read the updated thread on Costco/Amex today stating that transition to Citi from Amex will most likely NOT require one to re-apply.
Here's the sneaky part.. What if we get the TE card from Amex now since you can still apply for it and wait till the citi card is issued next year?
We're already in with Amex, currently have an ED and a BCP.
I kind of look at it like a win win....Pretty sure I'd get the TE, a good SL, 15% APR (no need to worry what citi would give) plus I can get that CL moving via SP vs citi HP's. Worst case Amex declines but at least I dont waste a HP
Sound crazy? Your thoughts would be appreciated.
What is your result when you use the Citi prequalification tool? Range of APR? Single APR?

Hi NRB525,
Thanks for the response... DW and I both get nothing from Citi prequal site. I have received multiple invitations in the mail for Citi DC but without a firm APR.

Very true, they could decide at some point go thru their blacklist and Perform AA on anyone on it, but that would be be pretty petty if your in good standing, but then again banks can be petty.
Never burned Citi so I dont think that would be an issue...I just hear horror stories about how picky they can be (citi) and being known for giving silly SL's. With amex I would be able to grow the card quickly and pain free
and have a good starting APR.
