So no apps in 2015 and I had a bunch of inquiries fall off so I decided to pull the trigger. Well, Chase denied me for the Freedom card. I called the recon line to check the status, and they said I have too many new accounts over the last two years. I opened several new accounts in 2014. Unfortunately, after my deniaI, I discovered the Chase 5/24 rule. Needless to say, I'm bummed out. I'd think they would look at the total picture, like most lenders during recon, but I am officially done with Chase. They definitely do not want me as a customer. ![]()

Sorry to hear and no sad face. Don't take a credit denial personal.. It is just a business decision on their part you know. They say time heal all wounds so hang in there @Bunnylocks..

I agree. Definitely don't take it personal. Think of the positives. If you didn't add any new accounts in 2015 then sometime this year the accounts you added in 2014 will start to age past the 2 year mark and you'll be able to apply again for the Freedom once you're outside the 5 account rule. It will happen if you really want the card. Good luck.
It looks like you have a stellar portfolio of cards already anways. The Discover IT has overlapping categories this quarter with the Freedom card anyways. It's their loss, and if you decide to app again in a year, I'd image they'd love to have you. It's a stupid arbitrary rule and there might be pressure on recon reps to say no. Carry on and keep your head to the sky.

Thanks so much for the kind words! It certainly means a lot.
I know it's not personal, it's just that Chase denied me in the past during my rebuilding years, so I really thought I had a shot this year. The good news is that I requested a CLI from Discover after my failed recon and got a 3k soft pull bump. Finally made my 15k goal with them. It's just a reminder that we should appreciate what we have.

What a bummer ... you garden for a year and the 2014 new accounts keep you out?! YIKES .... ;(
Exactly! I just knew 2016 was my year. No apps in 2015, careful planning for over two months making sure I had my accounts and balances in order before applying and they turn me down for new accounts that are over a year old. I could understand if I was apping. I literally went from 20+ inquiries down to 4 and they double pulled me.

Thanks! I doubt I'll app again with them. I'm just going to continue to take care of the accounts that I do have. My goal is to just get my AAOA up some more, so to the garden until 2017.

Sorry Bunny about getting denied like that. ![]()
I'm pretty fed up with Chase myself. I've had their Slate for about 3 years now and they pretty much ignore me. Get denied everything, no BT offers, no CLI's even if I ask for one. The card's pretty much useless to me. I got it with I think it was around a 660 score, and a $3500 limit. Did a BT at first of a couple grand. Paid that off and made another grand or 2 of purchaces over it's life time and no love back. Maybe I just haven't shown them enough I guess.
Anyways, do you mind me asking what your scores were at when you got the It! card? I'm about to apply for one as I have their More card, and Discover has shown me the love and them some in the 5 years I've had their card. So I'm hoping that continues when I apply for the It! in about 2.5 weeks. I have scores in the 780-790 range. So I would think I'd be a shoe in for an It! card but you never know. My More card has $11,800 limit on it. Started out at around 5k.
Good luck and thanks. ![]()
