Thanks so much for the kind words! It certainly means a lot.
I know it's not personal, it's just that Chase denied me in the past during my rebuilding years, so I really thought I had a shot this year. The good news is that I requested a CLI from Discover after my failed recon and got a 3k soft pull bump. Finally made my 15k goal with them. It's just a reminder that we should appreciate what we have.
I'm sorry to hear about your denial, but I love the title of this thread! Apparently I'm on the Chase blacklist, seeing as how they can detect an old BK on my TU report, a report that has been squeaky clean since late 2014. I'm so over Chase and have no intentions of ever applying for any of their cards again.
I totally agree with your last sentence above. I'll admit that I've been spoiled by mostly instant approvals for the cards I have. And it certainly helps to remind me how much I appreciate the cards I have, with the nice rewards packages that they come with.

I'm pretty fed up with Chase myself. I've had their Slate for about 3 years now and they pretty much ignore me. Get denied everything, no BT offers, no CLI's even if I ask for one. The card's pretty much useless to me. I got it with I think it was around a 660 score, and a $3500 limit. Did a BT at first of a couple grand. Paid that off and made another grand or 2 of purchaces over it's life time and no love back. Maybe I just haven't shown them enough I guess.
Anyways, do you mind me asking what your scores were at when you got the It! card? I'm about to apply for one as I have their More card, and Discover has shown me the love and them some in the 5 years I've had their card. So I'm hoping that continues when I apply for the It! in about 2.5 weeks. I have scores in the 780-790 range. So I would think I'd be a shoe in for an It! card but you never know. My More card has $11,800 limit on it. Started out at around 5k.
Good luck and thanks.
If my memory serves me ... you could product change the Discover More Card to the Discover it Card with no HP. Also, you may be able to apply for the Discover Miles Card as Discover requires that you have one card open for one year (you supposedly can only have two cards - this changes from time to time).

Sorry to hear about Chase. Maybe it's time to SD them for awhile. I believe my scores were around 680 when I applied for Discover. I was still rebuilding my credit, but they have been very generous with the CLI's in the two years I've had the card. With your scores, I doubt you would be denied. Good luck with the app and let us know how it goes.

Admittedly, I was very confident going on. I just knew they were going to approve me. I thought for sure with my credit limits, low balance, perfect payment record, and low inquiries that I was going to come away with something, even if it was a small starting limit. The agent couldn't or wouldn't budge. He repeatedly touted that they look at new accounts over the last two years. I've also read about others never receiving credit increases with Chase, so perhaps I am better off anyway because that would certainly bother me.
We both have Sallie Mae cards...5% gas/groceries and 5% at Amazon. We don't need no stinking Chase.

It's too bad you didn't know about their new 5/24 rule before applying for that Freedom. Otherwise, I can see why you were so confident. And I agree that we don't need Chase.....lol. I see that you have the Discover it card as well. As it has already been mentioned, there isn't anything all that special about the Freedom if you already have the it card. The only Chase card I was interested in was the AARP, but it was a bit of a stretch for me to try to justify having a dedicated restaurant card anyway. I'll admit that Chase has some nice travel/hotel cards, but I'm more of a cash back type of guy, so no big loss for me.
I have to tell you, I feel a little meh about my Freedom card. Discover has treated me so well that i've had a hard time wanting to use it even with last months Amazon 10%. If I had the chance to trade out my Freedom for your Salie with no change in inquiries or AoAA I'd do it in a heartbeat. In fact, If I knew 4 months ago what I know now I probaly would have held off on the Freedom App. I think that 5/24 rule scared me into thinking I had to get it when frankly Discover handles all my needs plus some.
Chase is on lock down for us "over achievers" lately. I'm hoping they loosten up soon. I would stay in the garden since you have the 1 year invested. :] Congrats on that by the way.
@Bunnylocks wrote:So no apps in 2015 and I had a bunch of inquiries fall off so I decided to pull the trigger. Well, Chase denied me for the Freedom card. I called the recon line to check the status, and they said I have too many new accounts over the last two years. I opened several new accounts in 2014. Unfortunately, after my deniaI, I discovered the Chase 5/24 rule. Needless to say, I'm bummed out. I'd think they would look at the total picture, like most lenders during recon, but I am officially done with Chase. They definitely do not want me as a customer.
So why would you think they do not want you. If it was you only they were doing this to i could understand. But this applies to everyone. so there you go. you may not like it but they spread it around to all not just you. so simply wait for some more accounts to age and get the card you want. Remember the 5-24 really appllies to their main stay of cards. Freedom, CSP, Slate, not sure about slate, but other two for sure. if you simply want another chase card while you wait pick one of the co branded and don't call to inquire on it.
bummer. you do have some nice cards though. hope you get it eventually.
