Re: So sad :(

CareCredit has 0% periods that are almost always going to beat out any BT from a normal credit card unless your dentist is CHEAP and won't pay for the longer 0% periods but each place can offer 6-48 months on CareCredit interest free.

and if you were approved for the $13k intially you should call in and ask for a cli to $25k and the system will counter a new higher limit.

Check with your dentist office how many months they offer with the carecredit for your size dental work before you write it off as bad option.

Re: So sad :(

No, I really wanted to not use the Credit Care at all and possibly close it, if I could've gotten a CL increase from Barclay.  I read some reviews after receiving the line and didn't like what I read.  I was not trying to get more.

Re: So sad :(

Sorry, that was in reply to someone who maybe thought I was being greedy.  I wasn't! I'm kind of new to posting here, I thought I was replying to that person, but guess not. LOL

Re: So sad :(

bad reviews of carecredit usually are a result of someone that doesn't understand that if they have 0% financing for say 12 months that if they don't pay the balance in FULL by the 12 months that the intrest is retro from day 1.  As long as you understand to either pay it off or balance transfer it BEFORE your 0% period is up it's a fantastic card for the purpose of 0%

Re: So sad :(

What issues do you have with care credit?

I used care credit for 2 major events and for a few things in between like vet visits and eye doctor exam + Contacts.

I got introduced to Care Credit as a college student when I couldn't afford my dog's surgery, they came to the rescue with a $2,000 limit. I paid it off interest free in 12 months.

I then wanted to get a surgery that was going to cost $6,000, asked for a CLI and they gave me $7,200. I had 24 months to pay it off interest free.

I have never had an issue with them. If you pay every month on time ( I made sure I paid two days before the due date just in case), you will never run into fees with them. now if you miss a payment, you will loose the interest free promo and be charged the full APR% for the term . Minimum payments are always something doable like $150 a month (on a $6,000 loan), you won't meet the full payment within the promo term if you pay only minimum though. I just made sure I paid the $6,000 evenly between th 24 months...or you can do the min and try to pay more before the promo terms ends to avoid any interest.

Re: So sad :(

I also read those bad reviews on Better Business Bureau etc... seems like a bunch of people who didn't read the terms and paid late or forgot to pay and went online to whine.

With great credit come great responsiblity. Care Credit is a life saver, seriously. I paid off my elective surgery last october and I feel great. I was able to afford to do something I could not with my income at that time, paid it off within 2 years and never paid interest ( your doctor pays for the no interest pomo).

Re: So sad :(

I agree with what others have said on here about Care Credit complaints are usually the result of people not being responsible and understanding that if they don't pay before the end of their 0% term they will be hit with retroactive interest. Which is common with a lot of those type of credit offers.

IMO use care credit get the longest %0 term available pay it off or balance transfer it to say a Chase Slate or Citi Simplicity near the end of the term if unable to get it paid off.

EQ04 675, EQ08 676, EX08 719, TU08 703 $12704.75/$123050 Revolving Credit (All 0% or 1.99%) - In Garden Since 5/25/2016

Last negative item should fall off in July 2017.

Thank you all for your replies.  I did read the bad reviews and started to panic. I feel much better to see your experience. I've decided to give my dentist a cash payment and use CC for the balance.  My dentist doesn't do the zero percent beyond a year, I guess.  So I'm stuck with the 14.9.  I'll just try to pay it off as quickly as I can.  Maybe pay for a year and take advantage of any BTs next year to pay them off.  Again, thanks for your replies.

I would put the entire procedure on the care credit for 11 months and then BT to a new card... with your scores you should have no issue getting something like Chase Slate or Citi Thank you to Balance Transfer the balance next year.
