@Anonymous wrote:It is really up to you. I waited 6 months & apped for the Venture. And after apping for 10 at once, I would rather do them one at a time. My score plummeted almost 60 points from the 10 & 2 points from my recent Venture.
A 20K Venture 6 months after a 10 card spree? I'd say that was a very successful spree and your credit completed rebounded within 6 months
That's 11 cards in 7 months even though you took a massive temporary score drop for 6 months.
However, if you had spread it out, it would have taken closer to 12 months to get the same amount of cards and 1.5 years to fully recover your score
By using the spree to jumpstart your credit early, you achieved a rock solid credit base within 7 months...you cut almost a year off your rebuilding by doing a spree... sweet shortcut.
But now, with approximately 20 cards, you're already solidly established and don't really need to spree anymore so I get that too. Sprees are great in your early rebuilding,
10 card sprees in later stages are much more rare unless you're just collecting.
I currently have 3 cards. The Quicksilver, a Bank of America Rewards card, and an AMEX Optima.
It solely depends on how you apply for credit in the future. I don't want or need more credit and I'll be gardening until I need a loan of some kind. AAOA can impact your score highly, due to my recent apps my scores have dropped 30 points due to AAOA and inquires. Constantly reapplying in spurts or at random will create a constant pool of stagnance which will take longer to get out of than a large investment at the beginning.
SO, it sounds like you think I should wait until July and apply for them all at once?

All at once, because none of the new cards will report and affect subsequent apps.
Best strat is app spree, garden 6 months, and repeat.
and another thing you can do , (but barely mentioned) is to spread your apps/HP CLI's acrross credit agencies so
you only get 1 HP per CA. I did this:
Amex : EX new app
Barclays SM : TU new app
PenFed: EQ new app
Since my wishlist is very small, I'll probably go for four or five cards at one time once my scores are in the proper range, then not apply for anything else. Ever.
I did all 6 apps within a 3 day window
If any of the card companies ask why so many inquiries, I tell them i'm looking for new reward cards.
All HP's will fall off at the same time anyway.
my AAoA was 9yrs or so before getting approved for 5 of 6 cards. So I don't think it will affect it that much.
DO you literally apply 1 right after the other? Or do you spread it out over a day or a few days? And does it matter in which order you apply?
