5/26 The denial finally came through so I called Recon.... got a very helpful guy who tried hard to transfer the credit from one of my other cards, but couldn't do it due to my high numbers of inquiries and recent accounts. Advised me to keep on managing my credit the way I have been, and to wait at least 6 mos to reapply.

What one cannot do, another can.

Wasn't it you that said that Barclay's is one of the few that documents when you attempt something?
IE: Calling twice, they already know that you've called so they just back up what the previous rep wrote?
This is the one card I crave. To put balance on. But too chicken to apply. Tu is only 689 right now. Any way. I asked for cli on Apple card 5-7. I asked for 2550 increase. From
3450 to 6000. They gave me $1960 increase instead to 5410. In letter they said. Quote. We could not give you everything you asked for. But we did increase you to 5410. Reason. To many bank cards last 12 months. Am I correct to be chicken?

You and I have that in common; it is the one card I really crave.
I think you're right to be chicken, especially since -- according to the rep I spoke to -- his computer simply wouldn't let him approve the application, even with transferring the credit limit from another Barclays card, due to the high numbers of (a) recent new cards and (b) recent inquiries.
He sounded to me like someone who was really working hard to get me a yes rather than a no, and I think he was telling the truth.
I think the best thing you and I could do, to improve our chances of getting the Ring card, would be to garden for a good long time.
The only question is whether I have the self restraint to do so.
Reading Nixon's posts, especially his story about getting the Ring, does not help me in the self restraint department ![]()

I agree. They keep a record of all the prior calls, and they limit how many calls you can have.

I reconsidered for SM several times before they approved....just sayin'
While that may be the case, the OP's profile is not the same like yours though. And, the OP can keep calling Barclays and the answer will still be no.
Did you get very far with FIA AMEX? How many recon attempts was it 14-15+? Let's not forget that Citi Double Cash (or Diners) were no successes either. It is what it is.
Just being realistic since at some point it becomes more counterproductive than it's worth. It's not like the OP did not try! If it doesn't happen now for the OP, is that the end of credit for him? The OP will likely qualify for it at some point. Just sayin'

You're welcome. It's really up to you to decide whether calling back more times is really worth it. Admittedly, there will be situations when one analyst can override another one's decision even if you space things out between calls - but it all depends. Despite his charm and other hat tricks, Nixon was not able to convince the FIA folks to overturn their decision. Every lender is different.
However, if Barclays tightens the reins and have it well-documented in their notes, no "telethon" will change things and it's going to take some else higher to override it (i.e. Sr UW or manager). This would all be based on your time/effort of course ![]()
